Everything Revealed At D23 Expo

Disney had their D23 Expo and revealed quite a lot of new information and trailers regarding some future projects that they have in the works, have filmed, or are currently filming. So let’s reveal everything that was shown.

Moana 2 Trailer

D23 attendees got an extended look at Moana 2. The new trailer was released online and sees Moana reteam with Maui when a new, storm threat threatens the life she’s built with her family.

Monster Jam

Dwayne Johnson stayed behind after the Moana 2 presentation to reveal he’s working with Disney on a new project titled “Monster Jam”. Johnson said “I love motorsports, I love monster trucks, I came to Alan and Disney to create something here that is immersive and fun and live-action from the POV of these incredible monster trucks. Eccentric and crazy drivers. Monster Jam is going to be a fun ride.”

Avatar 3

James Cameron made a surprise appearance at D23 to talk about the upcoming third movie of Avatar revealing the film to be called: Avatar: Fire and Ash. While no footage was shown, Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington did share a first look at some concept art while the team prepares for it to premiere next year on December 19, 2025.

Win or Lose and Dream Productions

Pixar will be continuing its record-breaking run with an Inside Out spinoff series called Dream Productions, The animation company will double down on its presence on Disney+ with its first original series titled “Win or Lose”.

Toy Story 5

Pixar will also return to the Toy Story universe with the fifth film in the franchise. Andre Stanton will direct the movie and a few details were revealed about the film. The toys will find themselves tackling electronic playthings and 50 rogue Buzz Lightyears. Toy Story 5 is set to release in the summer of 2026.

Hoppers

Hoppers is an original animated movie that stars Jon Hamm, Bobby Moynihan, and Piper Curda. The film will hit theaters in the spring of 2026.

Elio

Before Pixar continues with Toy Story 5 and Hoppers, Pixar will debut another new universe with Elio. Set for a June 13 release, the animated spacey film will see viewers go to new unknown worlds. With the announcements comes the reveal that Zoe Saldana has joined the cast as Elio’s aunt. D23 attendees got an exclusive look at a trailer.

Incredibles 3

The Incredibles are suiting up for a trilogy. Incredibles 3 was announced to be in development with Brad Bird working on it as we speak. No other further details were announced.

Ke Huy Quan Joins Zootopia 2

Zootopia 2 footage was revealed to D23 attendees which revealed Gary, a viper played by Ke Huy Quan, and a semi-aquatic area called Marsh Market. Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde go on a new adventure in theaters on November 26, 2025.

Frozen 3 Concept Art

Disney is currently hard at work on Frozen 3, while it will be quite some time before it debuts in theaters in 2027, D23 was some fresh concept art. Director Jennifer Lee explains why the team decided to pursue a third entry, and potentially a fourth, in the revolutionary animated franchise.

“Coming out of Frozen 2, we still have some questions. A lot of questions actually,” Lee said. “Now, you see why we need two films to tell this story.”

Disney Musicals

Three new Disney plays are in the works with the first being Frozen: The Broadway Musical which will feature Samantha Barks as Elsa when it comes to Disney+ in 2025. Next will be Hercules when that comes to London’s West End in the summer of 2025 and finally, a stage adaptation of Hugh Jackman’s The Greatest Showman which is currently in development

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

The next live-action Star Wars series coming to Disney+ is Skeleton Crew starring Jude Law. The show’s first trailer appeared which revealed a group of younglings who find themselves lost in a new part of the galaxy. Law’s character was seen using the Force. The series debuts on Disney+ with a two-episode premiere on December 3, 2024.

Andor Season 2 Footage

Diego Luna made sure to reveal some behind-the-scenes footage of Andor season 2 which shows some of the major characters that season 2 has in store. Season 2 looks like it takes place over a four-year timeline, with the return of Andor’s droid companion K-2SO, and the Rogue One villain Director Krennic. Forest Whitaker will once again return to the role of Saw Gerrera while Ben Mendelsohn will return to his portrayal of Krennic. Andor season 2 drops in 2025.

The Mandalorian & Grogu Footage

The Mandalorian & Grogu began filming a few weeks ago and the footage of the movie teases Grogu in a full suit of Mandalorian Beskar armor, AT-ATs, and a planet that looks similar to Hoth. The Mandalorian & Grogu comes to theaters on May 22, 2026. Everything’s favorite Rebel, Zeb will appear in the movie.

Ironheart

Ryan Coogler took to the stage to explain how he’s involved with what is next for Riri Williams following her debut in Black Panther 2. The footage shows Riri keeping up at MIT while worrying about a new superpowered villain played by Anthony Ramos. Ironheart premieres in 2025.

Daredevil: Born Again

Disney took the time to give fans an early look at the series at D23. Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Jon Bernthal all showed up to reveal the trailer. Season 1 of Daredevil: Born Again arrives on Disney+ in March 2025.

We’ll see the debut of Muse and White Tiger in live-action, with Kamala Khan’s father will be appearing in the series. Daredevil and Kingpin will seemingly team up in the series to deal with a larger threat. Jon Bernthal says it’s an honor to return as The Punisher in the MCU. Kevin Feige also teased that the team at Marvel is ready to get back to work on season 2 very soon.

Agatha All Along

The cast from the WandaVison spinoff show revealed a new trailer at D23. The series features Kathryn Hahn and Aubrey Plaza as they deal with the fallout of the Scarlet Witch. The series begins streaming on September 18, 2024.

Percy Jackson Season 2

Disney has said that season 2 of Percy Jackson will continue the adaptation going with a new storyline based on the second book in the series “Sea of Monsters”. The cast of the show did reveal a short teaser for the next batch of episodes. However, no release date was revealed.

Freaky Friday 2

Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis are back for their body-swapping sequel titled Freakier Friday. The pair came on stage to reveal the film’s new title as well as showcased a bunch of pictures from the movie. Freakier Friday releases in 2025.

Lilo And Stitch

Disney is continuing with the live-action adaptations. While the Lion King went for a more realistic approach, Lil and Stitch seem to be meaning Stitch’s puppy-like appearance, all while giving him some furry new details. While no details were announced, you can see this in theaters in the summer of 2025.

Snow White

Disney finally released an early look at Snow White starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot. The film will debut in theaters on March 21, 2025.

Tron: Ares

Jeff Bridges, Jared Leto, and more came to D23 to talk about how Tron: Areas continues to build one of Disney’s oldest live-action movie franchises. They showcased a new look at a technological villain who wants to take over the real world. Tron: Ares will feature the characters going into the real world.

Mufasa: The Lion King

Disney ended their presentation with a new trailer for Mufasa: The Lion King, a prequel that teases the early days of a friendship between Mufasa and Scar, then known as Taka. As Rafiki recounts the early days of the future king. Mufasa: The Lion King debuts in theaters on December 20, 2024.

Also what was shown at the presentation was a new clip of Captain America: Brave New World which showcases Harrison Ford’s President Thunderbolt Ross giving a speech on Adamantium being harvested from the celestial. In the clip, you can also see Ross turn into the Red Hulk.

Disney also showcased a small clip of the cast of the Fantastic Four on set which revealed Joseph Quinn in full Fantastic Four suit which looks like a simple yet sleek design for a 60s setting.
