Season 5 Episode 11 “Supergirl tries to thwart a Toyman copycat; Winn Schott returns from the future.”
What I Liked
01. An epic return for Winn. Although something to do with the Toyman showed us Winn, the actual Winn returned to stop a bullet. So glad he’s returned for a couple of episodes.
02. A new lair. Finally. J’onn has created a secret entrance in his apartment. If this kind of takes it away from the DEO at least for a little bit I will be happy. It brings back to a proper vigilante feel which I feel can only be a good thing. The DEO, the controls, it just gets boring.
03. It seems William went to attempt to expose Lex instead of going to the university. Actually really beginning to like this character, considering I deeply hated him at the beginning of the season. Unpopular opinion, but I’m liking the chemistry that’s building between him and Kara.
04. Initially I had Brainiac this episode down as a dislike, but he opened up to Winn and it really made me feel sorry for him. Knowing he’s doing what he feels is right, but hating himself and what he’s doing every single second is heartbreaking. Plus it shows just how dark and calculated Lex is, he’s even making Brainiac look stupid.
05. Game night has been a miss, it’s always lovely to see everyone so close, and laughing together. It’s not a huge dislike, but I just love to see it, no matter which CW show it is.
What I Disliked
Andrea is literally the worst person on this show very closely behind Lena. The fact she’s asking for an “exclusive” with a guy thats threatening major terrorism just wouldn’t happen. I was hoping post crisis she would be done, but nope, nothing changes here. She’s still a terrible character, not in a villainous way, just annoying.
Favourite Moment
As Toyman Winn attempts to kill Andrea, she’s disappointedly saved by Supergirl. The best part here is as a giant toy tiger still attempts to go for Andrea, Eye of the Tiger by Survivor starts playing, followed by Toyman doing a hilarious dance.
Standout Character
Winn obviously takes it here. It’s lovely to see Jeremy Jordan back, this time portraying Winn from two different earths. On one hand he played Toyman so great, and as actual Winn it was nice to see what he’s been up to. Shoutout to him fighting the big bad Brainiac too with the Legionaire.
Verdict
One of the better episodes of the series. It just goes to the show that Supergirl can have such good writing, and have incredibly strong episodes. I think it just needs that consistency. It’s been a long time since I have felt excited to watch the next weeks episode.
