The Flash “Pay the Piper” Review

Season 6 Episode 18 “Team Flash battle Godspeed, and turned to an unexpected ally for help.”

What I Liked?

1. With Joe gone and the team in turmoil, it came down to Cecile being the one with the voice of reason in Star Labs. Small detail but I just loved her being the new voice of reason since Joe is normally the one to be it.

2. Barry and Allegra are in the speed lab when Godspeed arrives, knocks out Allegra, and threatens Barry. Godspeed has more speed than Barry and can even use his powers differently to Barry.

3. We come to find out why in this new timeline post-crisis, why Hartley hates The Flash. And it’s because of when Barry fought with Hartley on the Dam in a previous season although it was different. Hartley had henchmen and one of them shot vibrations at Barry who counted it with a lightning bolt and something happened to the henchmen, who was Hartley’s boyfriend.

4. Godspeed then breaks into Iron Heights prison and kills and steals the speed from the Godspeed clones. After Barry and Hartley take him down, we come to find out this isn’t even the real Godspeed, just another clone who is more powerful than the last four.

5. The small little point here, Cisco mentions being able to find something in Atlantis.

What I Disliked?

The side story for Frost/Caitlin. I know it’s because Danielle Panabaker is pregnant so she can’t do much but the story for her is so boring.

Favorite Moment

Godspeed is ruthless. He puts about 10 people in the street and threatens to kill one every 60 seconds if The Flash doesn’t give him his speed. Godspeed knows who The Flash is. Barry is running up a building when his speed gives out and he gets caught by Hartley using his vibrations. They combine their powers and stop Godspeed.

Standout Character

Barry takes this one this week. Even low on speedforce, he was willing to use it to stop Godspeed.

The Verdict

A fairly epic episode this week. The twist involving Godspeed caught me off guard simply because of how I thought he was overpowered. His unique powers and abilities are great.

Rating: 9/10
