The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has been met with an exceptional response from fans around the world. Of course, with the type of show it is we’re not expecting any cameo appearances the same way we were with WandaVision (we blame the actors for that). We didn’t mind though, because WandaVision was a fantastic show nonetheless.
With WandaVision the theories were crazy because there were so many different options, the same goes for this show. However, the cameos would never be as prevalent as they would have been with WandaVision.
We take a look at just 5 cameos we’d like to see, and also cameos that would most likely happen if a cameo appearance was to happen. There’s many that could appear at some point during the season, after all, we’ve got another 5 huge episodes to go.
1. James Rhodes (War Machine)
This is one of the most likely ones we can expect to see within the show because James Rhodes has already shown up within the first episode when Sam was passing the shield over to the government. Now, I know what you’re going to say – “he’s already been here why is he on the list?”
Well, he was there as Rhodey, not as the War Machine which is my point. Since the end of Tony Stark, we’re not going to see another Iron suit until Riri Williams in Ironheart, so I’d just love to see Rhodey suit up alongside Sam and Bucky, even if it’s just brief.
2. Scott Lang (Ant-Man)
Scott Lang has a good foundation built with Sam Wilson, after all, both of them have crossed paths a few times both against each other and alongside each other. Ant-Man isn’t a character that you would think of when it comes to a cameo, but just because of how damn great the character is, it would purely just be nice to see him show up.
It would also make a lot of sense to the story, Sam and Bucky are in for one hell of a fight against a couple of villains, so backup would be a great way to cameo a character. Again, the same as War Machine, even if it’s just brief I wouldn’t mind, but it would be fantastic to see Scott again in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, considering we won’t see him for a while until Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania which is scheduled for a 2022 release.
3. Riri Williams (Ironheart)
Understandably this wouldn’t really add much to the story of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, however, I do believe this would be a solid cameo to have within the show, and for one main reason only. This will introduce the character in a massive way.
Dominique Thorne was cast as the character without an audition, and the show is set to release on Disney+ next year. By giving her and the character a platform on a show as popular as this, would be a phenomenal way to drive up interest. After all, this is how characters have a good chance to grow prior to their own show launching. I also don’t believe she should show up in a fully-fledged Iron suit, that’s best to wait until her show, but just by introducing her as Riri would be great.
4. Pepper Potts (Rescue)
Nobody would have assumed that one little scene would cause so much controversy on social media. This scene was the pay aspect when Sam and Sarah visited the bank during episode 1. There’s been so much speculation and memes created off the back that the Avengers are simply broke. It’s a question my wife mentioned during Age of Ultron when Steve Rogers mentioned that he couldn’t afford a place in Brooklyn.
Tony Stark, the man that funded the Avengers is now dead. So, who funds them? Are they still a thing? It would make a lot of sense for Pepper to show up. Now, either way, I’m fine with it. I’d love to see the Rescue suit show up because let’s face it, that thing is beautiful. It would be great to see her again and inject some funds into the group once more, and also help Sam and his family. She’s a multi-multi-multi billionaire after all.
5. Steve Rogers (Captain America)
Bare with me on this one. This is an iffy topic to discuss with anybody. Now, I wouldn’t want Steve to show up and steal any thunder from either Sam or Bucky, because this is their show, and they deserve it so much. We know Chris Evans has signed a deal with Disney/Marvel, but as of now, we’re completely unaware of what that deal will entail.
The way I’d like to see this cameo happen would be at the very end of the final episode. We don’t know how Steve Rogers will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and this would surely answer that question. Not to mention, like all the others – it would just be fantastic to see him again. Chris Evans IS Captain America, and it would make sense for the show considering the backstory is based on his persona.
So, there we have it. 5 cameos we’d love to see, I’d like to give a special mention to Hawkeye here as well as another one I would love to see. Obviously, we wouldn’t mind if these show up or don’t, either way, we loved the first episode and can’t wait for the rest – no matter which way the show goes. In the end, we just love to speculate and enjoy discussing these topics.
