Usually, in my reviews, we dive straight into the below content, with Comic Universe we like to get straight to the point in reviews about what we like or didn’t like, but I’ll be honest. This was the most difficult show I’ve ever had to review in this formula.

Now, don’t get me wrong the episode wasn’t bad. If anything it actually has a solid base and direction it can head towards but hardly anything happened that stood out to me in this episode. It was entertaining due to said direction but it was so incredibly boring at the same time.

If Naomi is to succeed then it needs to stop beating around the bush. This episode showed again that the show is manoeuvering around the plot instead of getting to the point. The CW isn’t known usually for taking its time with a hero so to some extent I can get it, but 2 episodes later we now have far more questions than we did the first episode – and barely any of the questions I had after episode 1 were answered.

What I Liked

1. I have to give props to Steve, the guy they go to who witnesses and even got close to the UFO crash. The acting here was very well done when he was explaining what happened that day and how it traumatized him into changing him as a person. The story drew me in, it also sounds very interesting.

2. It’s finally good to see that she managed to dive off the bridge at the end with the help of Dee with no splash occurring. I really hope in the next episode we see more of her powers develop and be controlled.

What I Disliked

As Naomi and co. head to the milk to investigate Steve’s story, Zumbado shows up again and was treated to an almost identical scene to last week and now it’s already feeling like it’s being drawn out. Just get on with it, please!

Favourite Moment

The entire opening scenes with Dee were incredibly interesting, I’m not gonna lie. It adds a new aspect to a superhero show we’re not used to. Despite it being fairly similar to Superman’s origin story it takes a different twist on Naomi not knowing anything. I am happy Dee finally told Naomi that Superman is in fact real. All I want now is for Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman to show up now.

Standout Character

There aren’t many characters that stood out in this episode except Dee. The stories he was telling us about fighting in a war with Superman were perhaps the most interesting part of the episode. I think at this stage his story is actually more intriguing than that of Naomi herself.

Verdict

I’m torn between this episode. On one hand, the direction it plans to go is very interesting but on the other hand, this episode is just not how you do a post-pilot episode at all. If it wasn’t for Dee and his stories, this episode would have been the last for me.
