What I Liked
1. An interesting start to Clark this episode and seemingly looks as though he’s losing his cool again. Jordan tells him that he wants to tell Sarah everything. Clark rightfully so is completely against it, and his eyes turn red as he becomes angrier over the conversation. This was a super intense scene.
2. Jon finally squared up to Timmy about the juicing. It turns out, it was Candice that was supplying the drugs to him. This results in Jon doing a WWE Edge spear from behind. A fight then begins which is entertaining, even more, hilarious when Jon accidentally punches his dad. After realizing he was hit by his son, he goes down and it’s just so damn funny.
3. After the right, Clark loses it again with Jon. You can visually see the fear in Jon’s face so this is some great acting. After Clark realizes what he’s just done, he then uncontrollably uses his heat vision into his hands. That was a deep scene and again, like the scene with Jordan, it’s incredibly intense.
4. It’s one of the many things the showrunners do really well is they showcase that Clark really is an amazing father. He apologizes to both Jordan and Jon, also compromising with them on the apology. It doesn’t take away how angry he got but it’s nice that both the boys know something else is going on within the mines causing him to be that way.
5. The thing causing the seismic activities finally breaks out allowing Superman to make his way to the mines. This thing which I’m assuming is now Bizzaro begins his venture by lobbing a car off a group of soldiers and it explodes. I mean, it was again, another intense moment but brilliant.
6. After the battle, John and Clark agree that they shouldn’t go to Anderson to get help from the other Supers. This means that John isn’t done as Steel yet which I’m incredibly thankful for as he’s one of the standouts of this show for me.
7. I honestly believed Natalie was going to go off on a tantrum when she realized her father used the suit but it’s actually the opposite. She seems a bit pleased that she’s going to be able to work on the suit with her dad, and I am absolutely all for it. I think they’d make a great pair making the suit even better than before.
8. Jordan and Sarah finally work things out which I’m happy with. I feel like that story could have easily been dragged out so I’m glad it’s done and we can move on from this as it felt like a bit of a pointless story anyway.
What I Disliked
Nothing to report this week.
Favourite Moment
John wakes up, and the first thing he does is call for his suit. He attempts to join the fight but ultimately gets wiped clean out by Bizarro who sends him flying. Superman doesn’t manage to stop a punch and we realize the man under the mask is a version of him, which is how we now know it’s Bizarro despite us believing it was Doomsday originally.
Standout Character
It’s definitely Superman himself this week. Tyler Hoechlin’s acting is sublime, it shows so much when he’s having these visions or the scenes where he got uncontrollably angry. Another fantastic performance this week and I can’t wait for more.
Verdict
The best episode of the season so far for me. It had a bit of everything. More importantly, we now know the thing causing the seismic activity in the mines is Bizarro. Where they go with him now I’m unsure, but either way, I’m definitely along for the ride.
