Why Cal Kestis Should Show Up In The Obi-Wan Kenobi Series

I honestly feel like at this point I write the same article about Cal when it comes to anything Star Wars related. I was really hoping he would show up in The Book of Boba Fett but I knew deep down this was always a stretch.

Turning our attention now to the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, which has officially been confirmed for release. The official date is now the 25th of May 2022.

Now we know there has been a couple of additions added to the cast for Darth Vader’s fierce Inquisitor’s army. Rubert Friend was the latest one to be added to the cast list and is looking like he will portray the Grand Inquisitor.

If you have played the video game, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order then you will know about Cal Kestis, his backstory, his characteristics, and his fighting style. Again, one of the beautiful things about this is that in the game Cal is played by Cameron Monaghan. Cameron is a live-action actor as well and did a phenomenal job as the Joker on the Gotham series.

Also in the game, Cal fights two Inquisitors throughout. He took the arm off the Ninth Sister, and the Second Sister was killed by Vader towards the end for edging towards the light side again.

We also know it’s around the same timeline to where Obi-Wan is set and where Cal is trying to restore the Jedi Order.

If the Inquisitors are going to be involved in this with a pretty heavy plot then I think Cal should also make an appearance to assist Obi-Wan. After all, Obi-Wan probably knows quite a number of Jedi who survived Order 66, not to mention one who is actively using the force and slapping Vader’s Inquisitors about.

Cal doesn’t need to be there all season, but if one episode he shows up would be brilliant. I’ve said it before, it would cross that border from games to live-action. Something they’ve done a fair amount with animated to live-action.

A BD droid was spotted in episode 6 of The Book of Boba Fett which I believe wasn’t BD-1 but more of a nod to Cal’s character. If the droid exists then it would make a lot of sense for Cal to show up, and at least in this way, they won’t need to age him more in the Obi-Wan series.

Cameron is still young at 28 years old so would have a lot of sustain in the Star Wars universe. I do somewhat get that Respawn Entertainment and EA would like to keep Cal to themselves to tell their own stories but this would just be great to see.

After playing through Fallen Order an abundance of times he’s one of my favorite Jedi of all time. I just love what he stands for and what he brings to the table as a Jedi.

Again, I know the likelihood of this actually happening is pretty much next to zero. I only say that because the Kenobi series looks stacked as is. Hayden Christensen is reprising his role as Vader, Ahsoka is rumored to be involved, the Grand Inquisitor and there are rumors Darth Maul could play a small part although I think that one is as farfetched as mine.

Onto my final point before I wrap this up. In the game, Cal opens a cube to a message from Obi-Wan with his warning about Order 66 and the Jedi Temple. So, Cal does know who Obi-Wan is through that and most likely knew of him due to him being a Jedi Master. It would make sense that Cal would confide in Obi-Wan for not just guidance, but assistance in restoring the order which we know will inevitably fail.

What do you think? Would you like to see Cal show up in Obi-Wan Kenobi? Let me know down in the comments below.
