Finally, a long-awaited first look at every Star Wars fan’s most anticipated live-action series, Obi-Wan Kenobi which will debut on Disney+.
Entertainment Weekly has released an article, which you can click here to check out, showcasing the first promotional images for Obi-Wan Kenobi as well as the final print cover for their April 2022 issue which is Ewan McGregor as the hidden Jedi Master.
The first batch of images showcase a range of things from inside the Star Wars universe from the setting, locations, and to one of the villains of the series, a relentless Inquisitor named Reva (played by Moses Ingram).
Also returning to the long-awaited series is Joel Edgerton as Uncle Owen. While Reva is not the only Force-sensitive dark side villain to show up in the series as Hayden Christensen will mark his return to the world of Star Wars as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, Obi-Wan’s former apprentice.
Ewan McGregor has said, “We find Obi-Wan at the beginning of our story rather broken, and faithless, and beaten, somewhat given up.”
As the force-sensitive Inquisitor Reva, Moses Ingram will prove a formidable new foe as she seeks out Jedi-in-hiding for the Empire. Director Deborah Chow and writer Joby Harold describe the character as ruthlessly ambitious.
“They share a common dark-side goal,” Ingram says about the villainous trio of Reva, the Grand Inquisitor, and Darth Vader. “They’re on the same team.” As for what stands out most to Ingram about her big bad: “It’s all heart.”
Joel Edgerton is back as Uncle Owen… and we don’t necessarily like his odds in a face-off with Reva. (But as a wise smuggler once noted, never tell me the odds.) “Thank you, George, for casting Joel Edgerton as Uncle Owen,” laughs director Deborah Chow. “That’s all I can say.”
A new planet will debut in the series. Daiyu is a planet that “sort of has a Hong Kong feel to it,” says writer Joby Harold. “It’s got a graffiti-ridden nightlife and is kind of edgy. It’s just got a different lane and a different feeling.”
