Legends of Tomorrow is Officially Canceled

Legends of Tomorrow has been canceled over at the CW along with Batwoman.

Legends of Tomorrow is a series that had has a very loyal fanbase over the show’s run, while a lot of fans left the series in earlier seasons, this series still had that loyal fanbase that stayed with it, spoke about it on social media, and promoted the show.

Since it didn’t get renewed while season 7 was still airing, questions started to arise. The same with Batwoman, the fate of these two shows hung in the balance. After both seasons finished, the show’s writers and actors pleaded with fans to campaign on social media to renew the shows with the hashtags #RenewLegends and #RenewBatwoman.

First, it was Batwoman to be canceled after a rocky three seasons, and not long after, we got the confirmation that Legends had followed suit and was canceled.

While we don’t know the true reason why this series was canceled, we can only imagine that the ratings had a huge part to do with it. Season 7 had just introduced fans to Booster Gold, arguably someone who should have been on the series from the beginning and left on a cliffhanger of the team getting arrested.

Why am I happy it’s canceled?

You might think this is a bad point, but hear me out. I absolutely loved seasons one and two of Legends, I thought it was some of the best content that DC put out at the CW. The story was amazing, the show had a serious tone to it which made it stand out. That all began to go away once the show started to introduce unicorns, magical fairies, and aliens.

The series tone went away, the action got less and less with some episodes not even having any action in it. The writing for characters began to decline and ultimately characters got left behind and eventually forced to leave.

Around season four or five I started to truly dislike the series, every episode was a drag, and I wasn’t invested in it. In the long run, was such a letdown because of how much I loved the first two seasons. I began reviewing the episodes for this site and I noticed the ratings gradually declining and declining until it was getting less than a 3.0 rating.

Why am I sad to see it canceled?

The simple answer is the cliffhanger. While season 7 was terrible, they did finally introduce fans to Booster Gold who I, along with many other fans, wanted on the series. He was great from the moment he debuted and even was teased to play a much bigger part in season 8.

This is the only reason why I’m sad to see it end because, by the looks of things, we will not see Booster Gold or this story unfold. It was actually getting me back invested and I would have happily ignored the stupidness, the cringe, and the bad acting for this story.

Do I think this should have one final season to finish the story?

I’m 50/50 on this. I would like to see the story and Booster Gold but the rest of the Legends I’m not too bothered about. I began to dislike a lot of them and some of them were horribly written. Either way, I’m not too bothered. I’m more bothered about Batwoman not getting another season.
