Let's TalkShowsSuperman & Lois

Is Superman & Lois Better Off On HBO Max?

I’ve said it time and time again, Superman and Lois is some of the best superhero television there is at present. Everything about this show is perfect.

My only issue with the show is that it’s still on The CW Network and has been renewed for a third season despite all of the cancelations that have followed in recent weeks such as Naomi, Legends of Tomorrow, and Batwoman.

All that now remains within the Arrowverse is Superman & Lois, Stargirl (technically), and The Flash. Gotham Knights are next to come.

There are rumors floating around that HBO Max partially funds Superman & Lois. We haven’t been able to confirm or deny those rumors but it makes sense to question the quality considering it absolutely trumps every single other show that’s on The CW, and not just by a little bit either, by a lot.

My issue with the Arrowverse now is that it’s stale. As much as I love Superman & Lois, I do worry for the future of the show. We’ve seen this before. Arrow and The Flash are prime examples. Both of those shows were masterpieces during their early seasons, then slowly they just turned into trashy dramas.

The CW so far have done a phenomenal job with the show so far, they deserve all the praise in the world for that. But can they keep it up? I don’t think so.

The Flash probably only has one more season in its locker after season 8. So, now that the Arrowverse is all but done with, it means Superman & Lois will struggle for the incredible crossovers that we were used to.

If Superman & Lois goes to HBO Max you immediately have access to the Titans, after all, hate or love Titans the timings actually work out pretty well with the age of both Batman and Superman. You also have Doom Patrol and the upcoming Green Lantern Corps series (wherever the hell that is).

The potential for crossing over is a lot better. Also, HBO Max has a bigger budget to work with, not that it makes too much of a difference anyway but it might down the line.

To answer the question in the article, would it be better off? I think so. We should maybe see where season 3 goes first but if the option is there then I agree it should move the platform to ensure this season remains protected and loved until the end.

We know The CW is in the process of being bought out so that may be why so many shows have been canceled but for me personally, seeing how quickly they can just bin a show leaves this salty taste in my mouth, even if they had their reasons for doing so.

If Superman and Lois remain on The CW then I wholeheartedly hope they keep up with what they’re doing with the show and maybe work with HBO Max to feature any crossovers with the Titans and the Doom Patrol.
