What I Liked
1. I love that in the opening scene when we see the Aldhani people walking into their sacred grounds, we get to see and learn about how long the Empire has slowly been pushing the Aldhani people out of their homes. I can already see this being another tactic they used to dominate worlds, just like they dominated Kashyyyk, only that was much more brutal and full of war.
2. I liked how intense the “infiltration” scene was. How the two ladies had to sneak into the base while the men had to act like Imperial soldiers and wait for the opportunity to take an Imperial Officer hostage. You could feel just how important the mission truly was in this scene.
3. Ok, while the Aldhani ritual did make it onto the dislike list, the visuals and design of the meteor in the sky were beautiful. Only made better by the pilots of tie-fighters getting ready to mobilize.
4. The blaster fight in the hangar. This is what I’ve been waiting for. This entire shootout was amazing and seeing people actually fight in hand-to-hand combat was better. It was great to see the tie-fighters actually get some scenes where we saw pilots climb into them.
5. I said while watching a previous episode that this was Rogue One before Rogue One was a movie. I was correct, this was a suicide mission and Rebel soldiers paid the price. We lost one soldier while he was trying to save Vel.
6. I know I’ve mentioned it but seeing some footage from the pilots of Tie-fightings actually flying and witnessing it from the perspective of the cockpit in a tie-fighter in live-action was perfect. I played a recent game where you could fly a Tie-fighter from inside the cockpit and it was just the same. Well done on those scenes.
7. The twist between the group, while another member dies, Skeen begins to tell Cassian about a moon where they can go and split the 80 million credits, Cassian immediately kills him and takes his cut, and gives the crystal to Vel to give back to Luthren. I thought maybe the death of Nemik would be the beginning of Cassian who we know from Rogue One but I was shaken when it didn’t happen.
What I Disliked
I know the Aldhani cultural ritual was important and has been a big part of the heist but the heist overshadowed it. While the scenes were still great, I just wasn’t interested in it other than the heist part.
Favorite Moment
My favorite moment would simply be the heist. It reminded me so much of the adventures that the Ghost Squad would go on in Star Wars Rebels. How they’d go undercover and infiltrate many Imperial bases to either steal some tech or free prisoners.
Standout Character
For me, it’s been Cassian and Skeen. I think I might have to give this to Skeen. He completely fooled me, as well as fooled the entire group he was with. Would have loved to see more from him.
Verdict
The best episode yet. This is what I have waited for two whole episodes. This was action-packed, thrill-seeking, and explosive. The visuals and scenes throughout this episode make it such a unique episode for Andor.
