Stephen Amell Returning To The Flash – Why I’m Not Excited About It

First and foremost, I will say I love Stephen Amell, I’ve been a fan of his since the first season of Arrow was released and have continued to like each project he’s in. Especially Code 8 I thought that was a fantastic project.

But, if you have not heard, Stephen Amell is returning to the Arrowverse in the ninth and final season of The Flash. While It’s always lovely to see any character return to the franchise, I’m not too fond of this return.

Obviously, this will totally depend on the context of his return, whether that is a flashback, current day, or future scene.

The main reason why I’m not a fan of this return is simple, Crisis on Infinite Earth saw the sacrifice and the ultimate fall of Oliver Queen and the mantle of the Green Arrow. It showed just how far he had come with being a hero, from killing people and having a brutal way of doing things to having somewhat of a heart.

Bringing him back I feel would undermine that, it would ruin that sacrifice and would destroy all of the heartbreak, loss, struggle, and growth that certain characters like The Flash, White Canary, Black Canary, and more importantly his family.

While characters would be ecstatic to see the return of Oliver, as a viewer I do not. Maybe that’s just me but that’s how I feel.

I get bringing characters such as Kid Flash, and Bloodwork back, I’m still not set on John Diggle returning either because his story we’ve seen him go on through many show’s has seriously been so bad.

I hope to be proven wrong and I hope that the way and story of his return is an emotional one.
