Fast & Furious Movies Ranked Worst to Best According to the Box Office

10. The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006)

  • $158,964,610

It’s probably not a surprise to many seeing Tokyo Drift down here. The Fast franchise did suffer a bit after the first film due to Vin Diesel not reprising his role in the second movie and none of our original members in this. It was more of a spin-off that did feature Dom as a cameo at the very end. Besides this, I did enjoy this film. It was different and unique.

9. The Fast and the Furious (2001)

  • $207,517,509

The first in the series and what catapulted us into this huge and amazing franchise we have today. The first film is often received by those as being the best film out of all of them due to the actual racing aspect of the film. It’s crazy to think this film came out almost 22 years ago. It’s a shame to see it 9th but it wasn’t a cemented franchise at this point and just a “racing” film, although it deserves much more.

8. 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003)

  • $236,350,661

2 Fast 2 Furious for me was one of the weaker films in the series. It set completely off course from the events of the first one. Although the film was actually enjoyable and it was the debut for Tyrese Gibson’s character, Roman who has been one of the standout characters in the franchise as a whole.

7. Fast & Furious (2009)

  • $360,366,870

This is the movie that set the tone. It finally continued on from the story from the events of the first film and it only took 8 years for us to see how it went down. This is one of my favorite films in the franchise for me, more so because it shows the complicated relationship between Dom and Brian, eventually coming together once and for all, setting up Fast Five.

6. Fast Five (2011)

  • $626,137,675

For me, this is the best film in the franchise and it’s not even close. It lifted itself away from racing in a major way and focused on an impossible heist in Rio, Brazil. It also gave us the team that would feature in the franchise heavily after this film. It also gave us Danza Kaduro which is just, a chef’s kiss.

5. F9: The Fast Saga (2021)

  • $726,229,501

I will be honest. It took me over a year to watch this. I love the Fast franchise but this just looked too much in the trailers. I know the series is stupidly farfetched and it always has been but I felt like this one took it to a whole new level. I mean – they went to space…really? Despite this, the film was alright, it wasn’t the best in the franchise but it wasn’t the worst. The end scene was also a beautiful touch to the late Paul Walker.

4. Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019)

  • $760,732,926

This was the first proper spin-off from the Fast & Furious franchise although Tokyo Drift was pretty much that. This featured both Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham as their respective characters. It was a super fun film I’ll be honest. Johnson and Statham just bounced off each other all the way through and it was incredibly entertaining.

3. Fast & Furious 6 (2013)

  • $788,680,968

The sixth film for me is when it went downhill as a franchise. Again, the movie wasn’t bad. It just felt majorly flat in areas. It focused on the team working to take down mercenaries and it just wasn’t it. I preferred the heists and the racing whereas this did feel different, it just didn’t feel right.

2. The Fate of the Furious (2017)

  • $1,236,005,118

Dom goes rogue. That’s what you pretty much know this film for. It did it well too. It’s no wonder it does sit second on this list. We get to see just how important and valuable Dom is to the team. When he leaves, it all goes in the pan. I really did enjoy the experience.

1. Furious 7 (2015)

  • $1,515,341,399

I don’t think any of us can be surprised that this sits seventh. Furious 7 was the final film that portrayed Brian due to Paul Walker’s passing which left us all shocked and devastated. There are talks that Paul only managed to film between half and three-quarters of the movie, which means his brothers had to step in to finish the scenes with help from CGI.

Total gain from the box office
