Hogwarts Legacy is set to drop tonight for those who pre-ordered the Deluxe edition of the game, granted 3 days of early access, which I’ve done myself.
The one thing I’ve done for a few weeks is avoided a lot of the gameplay, previews, reviews, and everything else. I’ve done this because I want to go into this experience with a fresh mind and be hit with the unexpected.
It’s safe to say I am very excited about this game. I’ve been excited about it since it was first announced. It’s been a long time since we’ve had a game set in the Harry Potter universe so it’s safe to say I am ready for it.
The reviews have begun pouring out with Metacritic showing all of the major networks and their ratings. There is obviously a couple that goes down the 60/100 70/100 routes but that’s to be expected. This game is not going to be for everyone and that’s okay.
Game Rant, God is a Geek, and IGN all gave the game a 9/10. PlayStation Universe gave the game a 9.5/10.
There are over 40 reviews out for the game at present. Currently, the game is sitting at 85% on Metacritic which is a fantastic start for Avalanche Software. If you’d like to see all of the reviews in one place, then you can click here to visit the Metacritic page.
Now, as always with reviews – my advice always remains the same. If you’re even remotely interested in this then make up your own mind about it. We’ll review the game as well of course but it’s up to you to decide on whether or not you like it. All we can do as reviewers are give OUR thoughts on the game/project.
I saw a lot of negative reviews for Midnight Suns, I played it and had an absolute blast. So, there is always that.
There is dumb controversy surrounding the game at present with a select few TikTok “creators” trying to get people to boycott the game due to J.K Rowling’s apparent views.
To everyone who is ready for this, enjoy it! We’ll be back with our First Impressions article tomorrow night (UK time) with our full review out on the weekend.
