Black Lightning “The Book of Resistance: Chapter Four: Earth Crisis” Review

Season 3 Episode 9 “The Pierces fear for Jennifer’s life.”

What I Liked?

1. The episode opens with Jennifer who’s recording a message talking about how she’s stuck on who to side with, her father or the ASA because she thinks their both right and wrong.

2. Jennifer is waiting for Anissa at her apartment when the skies turn red and lightning breaks out… Jennifer’s power start to act crazy and she passes out. I like how while this show isn’t doing a part for Crisis it’s still effecting the show in general.

3. Jennifer wakes up in a blacked out room with 2 other versions off herself, they are called Gen and Jinn. Genn is a prisoner of the ASA because she infected the water to get rid of every meta’s powers and Jinn is a full on ASA soldier.

4. We find out that all 3 versions of Jennifer are not just her but from different Earths, We get to see Genn’s Earth and what happened to Jefferson, Odell shot him for helping the resistance while on Jinn’s Earth she’s killed many meta’s and more (queue the favourite moment).

5. After seeing these different worlds and versions of what potentially could happen to her, Jennifer comes to realize that Odell is using her powers as his own personal weapon.

6. At the end of the episode we see that Jennifer has turned into pure energy and when the family are begging her to try to return, Black Lightning gets teleported while a wave of anti-matter wipes out that world along with Anissa, Gambi and Lynn.

What I Disliked?

1. While the episode was great it turned out not to be what I expected, I thought the episode would of focused more of Black Lightning dealing with the red skies and lightning but the episode was a heavily centered Jennifer episode.

2. Lynn has gotten that addicted to greenlight that not only did she nearly miss out on what has been happening to Jennifer, she blames Jefferson for the ASA being extra brutal and is cooking her own greenlight.

Favourite Moment

As I previously stated in one of my liked points, we got to see other worlds involving the Pierce family. One of these worlds is Jinn’s world where she’s a soldier for the ASA and Odell. She’s killed many meta’s and we see her kill her own family which was brutal and crazy to see.

Standout Character

There is only one obvious answer, Jennifer simply because she witnessed her father being killed, she witnessed herself killing her entire family and she becomes the best version of herself.

The Verdict.

Fairly decent episode centered on Jennifer and her powers acting crazy because of the Crisis. We got to see a different world being affected by the Crisis and being wiped out.
