Please note, our reviews are based on likes and dislikes. These contain significant spoilers. If you haven’t already watched the episode, we recommend that you click off the article and come back once you have watched the episode. Enjoy!

What I Liked

1. The episode begins with Everett Ross going to speak with an agent who has been gathering evidence that the Skrulls are about to invade Earth. He tells Ross that this will be a major deal if they infiltrate any major government on Earth. He tells him that they don’t want any world, they want Earth.

2. Ater a major chase scene with Ross, he jumps across a building gap but ends up falling to the ground, we see Maria Hill arrive in time to stop the guy from getting to Ross but it turns out to be Talos. The Ross that we see isn’t our Ross but a Skrull who’s working against Talos.

3. I like how people think and believe that this “new and old” Nick Fury is pretty much done with this life, done with being the badass he used to be. I feel like this is writing Nick Fury to be such a great asset to any faction, government, or alien race.

4. Gravik and his army/resistance are actually really interesting. Seeing the process of what they do to truly fit in is very different from what the Skrulls were like in the Captain Marvel movie. Seeing them having had background development in technology and learning the ways of Earth is so good.

5. Nick and Talos go and visit Poprischchin, who G’iah has just visited. Poprischchin begins to fight Talos. Talos tells Nick that this is his fight. Even though Talos is getting hurt, he manages to get the upper hand until he gets thrown into some boxes causing Nick to shoot and kill Poprischchin.

6. G’iah is revealed to be Talos’ daughter. While I did have a sneaky suspicion that this would be revealed, it’s good to know that she’s there and Talos did mention to her that the people she works for, are the cause of her mother’s death.

What I Disliked

Nothing to report.

Favorite Moment

My favorite moment would be at the end when G’iah passes off two backpacks to two different Skrulls. The team goes to find them to stop the attacks. Maria and Talos chase after the two backpacks, while Nick Fury sees a girl with a rainbow ball but while he’s too busy chasing after her she turns into Gravik who causes the explosion. Maria and Nick reunite in the middle of the chaos but Fury shoots Maria because it’s Gravik. The real Nick fury gets to Maria but she dies in his arms.

Standout Character

Nick Fury gets this. The old guy has still got it. It’s really great to see Fury back and as the main character too.

Verdict

Honestly, this first episode of Secret Invasion had all the same feelings and energy as the Agents of SHIELD series had. It has that mystery-spy-thriller type of vibe to it and it honestly makes it that much better. The overall first episode was decent and set the groundwork for the rest of the series.
