I have previously requested this on the site, even before Hayden Christensen’s return to the role. It’s baffling that the most iconic villain has not been given a proper opportunity to shine.
It could be argued that Darth Vader played a central role in both the Prequels and Original trilogies, given that they revolved around him and his family. However, we have never had the opportunity to see Vader in his prime, except in the Kenobi show. Even in Rogue One, Vader was past his prime.
Hayden’s return to Star Wars is flawless. Should Disney give him another ride? I think so.
A standalone Vader series has limitless potential starting from the first few months of Vader adjusting to his uncomfortable suit. It is interesting to note that Palpatine intentionally designed the suit to make Vader feel uncomfortable, this is something that most casual fans are actually unaware of.
You have the surviving Jedi that Vader hunted and the wars he got into. You have the grief that despite Anakin and Vader being separate, we know Vader still grieves and has a lot of regret for Padme’s death.
In order to create a seamless connection between Episode 3 and the potential Kenobi show, it is crucial to showcase both the vulnerable and powerful sides of Vader. This would allow for a beautiful transition and set up between Episode 3 and this.
Then you have the full circle pretty much complete.
The fact that Hayden returned after facing criticism many years ago is a remarkable achievement. He truly deserves recognition, and what better way to honor him than by giving him his own show?
As I mentioned earlier, Darth Vader is widely considered the most iconic villain of all time. Even those who are not Star Wars fans have heard of Vader. There simply isn’t any other villain that even remotely comes close to him. So, why not capitalize on this popularity?
You have all the necessary ingredients at hand to create something amazing. You have a talented cast, and all that’s left is to provide them with contracts and have Filoni lead the way. If you do this, you’ll end up with one of the greatest TV shows of all time. I’m not just saying that; the combination of these elements will result in pure entertainment.
We’ve got The Mandalorian, we’re getting Ahsoka, we’ve had Boba Fett – it’s now time to give Vader ONE more time to shine and more importantly, Hayden Christensen.
