What I Liked

1. The opening of episode 2 was pretty much a yin and yang situation. You had the college students like Andre and Marie who were there and saw Golden Boy commit suicide while on the other end of the spectrum you have Ashley within The Seven Tower doing PR and complaining that she has millions of dollars worth of Golden Boy merch.

2. It seems like Twitter is doing its own thing within this universe. Marie is trending because people think she thought Golden Boy, when in reality she was running away. This shows how quickly lies can spread around campus and it turns Marie’s world upside down, she’s the first freshman to be on the ranking leader boards, albeit in 8th place.

3. It happened quickly but on a new report it said “Homelander on trial?” could this be a hint at a storyline in season 4 of The Boys?

4. At a therapy session, we learn more about the motives for Marie. Why is she at the college? Well, simply put she tries to pass it off as wanting to be a hero but in reality, the main reason why she is here is to find her sister. She was adopted when Marie accidentally killed their parents and she has tried to find her but she can’t. With the money and power that comes with being in The Seven, Marie thinks that will help her.

5. It shows that people in charge don’t actually care for the soon-to-be heroes. With Golden Boy exploding himself, it’s obvious that parts of his body, etc. will be everywhere. They did clean most of him up but they left a bit in between to slabs of stone.

What I Disliked

Little to no action was my only issue with episode 2.

Favorite Moment

My favorite moment would be at the end when Andre sneaks into Brinks’s office and has a little snoop on his laptop, while he’s doing that some soldiers come in, and Andre hides and gets away. The soldiers kill an innocent man in the stairwell which Andre sees. He uses his powers to try to get away but the soldiers use some sound to stop him. Kate uses her powers on two soldiers but faints by using her powers too much.

Standout Character

Honestly, I’m going to give this to Emma. This episode made me feel really bad for her. Her powers while useful, seems very painful to do. People mock her and think of her as a joke.

Verdict

Overall, a great episode for laying the groundwork for what will seemingly be a very interesting season. The overall story is different, it showcases a lot of different things including prisons, people wanting to keep stuff hidden, and more. The lack of action hurt this episode a lot.
