Today, we have officially rebranded our name to Only Comic Universe.
Comic Universe is a Limited company within the UK and this will be updated to reflect this in a few days on Companies House. We made the decision to rebrand due to conflicts between our domain name and the actual name of the company.
Despite running for almost 5 years, our push for engagement has been limited by a cross reference of misunderstanding who we are and our actual name.
We had three options which were either to change our domain, but the comicuniverse.com domain is over £12,000, something we’re not prepared to pay for considering we’re currently a self-funded network.
The second option was to buy the .net domain but we prefer .com so the next option was to just add “Only” into our name. Google recognizes our site when you search for this and seemingly doesn’t reflect just Comic Universe.
We also made the decision based on the name Comic Universe being popular. Our logos and images are stolen frequently and even used to post illegal content and streaming which reflects poorly on us. Adding Only to the name adds another layer of uniqueness to our brand and network.
We understand the name is long but there are other networks out there with long names too and we’re happy to implement this. Over time you’ll see small changes within the network and these will happen over the next 2-3 months.
- Companies House will be the first updated place.
- Our logos and artworks will be updated. We’re still awaiting our graphics designer to see if he can modify our current logo without changing it too much.
- Some small bits of Comic Universe will remain but will be updated as it’s spotted. As of now, all of our social media networks have been updated although this didn’t require a lot of effort
We hope to continue growing as a brand. After all, we firmly believe we are one of the best networks out there for reviews and list content due to our ethics. Everyone who works on this site does a normal job and still gives everything into publishing content to the site, something that should be admired. We want to grow, and if changing our name from Comic Universe to Only Comic Universe adds further engagement and more clicks to our site then so be it.
We’d love to compete with the best. It’s why we post ads to our site to get at least some revenue back. In the 4 years we’ve run this site, we’ve only made over £100 through ads. That’s it. Although the potential is always there when sites run ads, we always want to do it in a less slimy way and ensure the ads don’t ruin the experience as much as possible.
According to our stats, we get around 30,000 views per month. We want to double that within the next year and continue from there.
