Why I Feel Like The MCU Can Pull It Back

Superhero movies have been on a huge decline this year and it’s felt this way since Covid began back in 2020. Prior to that, it was relatively easy for an average film to reach $1b. Now though, it’s not the case and requires something special like Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The Marvels, Ant-Man, The Flash, AND Shazam 2 combined only just reached over $1b which is no doubt a terrifying thought for the studios behind these films.

Although it appears bleak and I have seen a lot of comments saying they’re done with these genres of films entirely I don’t think it’s time to truly give up just yet.

Marvel has proved they can still put out a powerhouse. They just need better direction and I do believe that is coming.

When you consider what’s on the agenda, it looks stacked.

Deadpool 3, Fantastic Four, Kang Dynasty, Secret Wars, Spider-Man 4, Captain America, Shang-Chi 2, and a lot more.

Understandably the projects put out recently haven’t exactly been great themselves but they weren’t interesting either. I can’t fathom how unexcited I was for The Marvels because it felt generic. It didn’t feel like it was worth my money or effort for very little advancement within the overall MCU story.

I’ll be happy to watch it on Disney+ when it drops but I have priorities and have issues getting a babysitter these days so there’s that as well.

I do agree that the MCU has been lacklustre since Endgame but there’s still hope to come. I feel like if Marvel drops the ball on some of these massive films then fair enough – but we have Deadpool 3 next year and that alone is enough to get excited. Deadpool will finally be in the MCU. There’s a good breath of fresh air right there.

I also feel like the cost of living crisis on the back of it, is affecting ticket sales. Marvel does need to up their game moving forward to get people back onside as there’s been a lot of trust lost due to poorly directed projects and dreadful CGI.
