Echo recently came out and many fans wondered why the label at the start of the show was titled; “Marvel Spotlight”.
Essentially Marvel’s Spotlight is dedicated to more grounded characters that don’t need to brush up on an entire catalogue of content previously to understand what’s going on.
With Echo, you could’ve watched Hawkeye and been fine but the show did a good job showcasing the events of Hawkeye so technically you could’ve gone without watching it.
Although the shows are connected to the MCU in the grand scheme of things, it allows for these side stories without a full connection.
It makes sense and it does allow Marvel to categorize shows into specific sections to give more continuity to the larger MCU stories and characters such as Spider-Man and Doctor Strange.
This does mean fans can go without watching specific shows and can focus on the movie side if they wish to do so.
Wonder Man has recently begun filming again after the strikes and it’s been told this will follow the same formula as Echo has.
We’re yet to receive a release date window for Wonder Man but if filming is taking place now, we can expect the show within 18-24 months if everything goes to plan.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will be the star of the show as he has been cast as Wonder Man himself. Other roles will include Demetrius Grosse as Grim Reaper, Ben Kingsley will be returning to his role as Trevor Slattery and Lauren Glazier has been cast but we don’t know which role she will play yet.
Andrew Guest will be the showrunner and Destin Daniel Cretton will be the executive producer and directing the first 2 episodes.
