What I Liked

1. A solid start to the episode as we get a proper update on Halsey. Also moving on from that, we see the board being changed as the Cobalt Team is still yet to return which infuriates the Master Chief. This entire opening segment including the intro as always was great.

2. Kwan had one brutal action segment. I saw lost limbs, someone being stabbed in the brain and someone thrown off a catwalk. I mean, fair enough, it was entertaining that’s for sure.

3. Logically speaking, do you side with Ackerson here or not? It’s intriguing. In this case, I understand why he’s being so dismissive of John, considering the Corporal is lying about what happened on Sanctuary. I think it’s clear he’s refusing to believe what’s going on or he’s involved somehow, all I do know is this is good storytelling. He appears evil with the way he goes on but is he doing the right thing? It remains to be seen and I like that.

4. That training segment was intense. Riz is sprinting and jumping across the landscape with the rest of the Silver Team chasing her down. She nearly succeeds with John hesitating on the shot until she falls from a huge distance. It’s a testament to how much those Spartan suits can absorb. That landing was brutal.

5. There’s nothing more satisfying in Halo than seeing the energy sword go to use. We see a small squad of 9 get absolutely annihilated by an alien using it. They don’t even stand a chance.

What I Disliked

Nothing to report this week.

Favorite Moment

5. John finds out there’s some missing information in regard to Cobalt Team so he decides to take Silver, a ship, and goes to find out what is going on. Chief mentions they’re going to get them back and lies to the team that they have been cleared for combat. I am so invested in the story at this stage and this is why this is my favorite moment because it’s like that f*** you to the people in charge.

Standout Character

You know what, Riz. I love the recovery story that she’s going through, especially after everything she went through. Seeing her go through physical therapy, attempt a session, fail but still continue is inspirational and impressive. I really liked seeing her progression in this episode.

Verdict

I loved this episode. It had a solid amount of action and progressed the story in leaps and bounds. After the first episode, I was slightly unsure as to what was going on but this episode answered a number of questions I had. I am so excited to see where this season heads to and hopefully, we get to finally see Arbiter.
