The franchise has been a hit. It’s safe to say I absolutely loved it, especially through the first play through.
It was breathtaking, and the story was one I will never forget. However, what happens after you complete the game?
You go back essentially to before the final mission, and you have free rain to access any of the planets you have visited before. You can go back to find more customisation options, update BD-1’s logs, or simply free roam the planets.
While the game is amazing, there’s no doubt about that, there’s just zero replay value here. Once you finish the game it feels like a chore hunting around for chests, or force points.
One thing other games benefit from is a new game+ option. Spider-Man PS4, Days Gone are just two games that added this addition later on. It brought fans back.
Respawn have been very tight lipped about any plans for DLC, which translates to; there is nothing coming.
An update recently came out adding the pre-order content to players for free, reading the patch notes I was disappointed there was no new game+.
People say it breaks the flow of the game if you have all the abilities from the start, but seriously who cares? This is what new game+ is for! I know you’re not supposed to access certain locations at certain points of the game but again, who cares?!
Those players who completed the game then left it would feel the need to back, and finish maxing out Cal, getting more crates as they go, and genuinely feel like an animal with all the abilities and enemies. It will also make some players attempt the higher difficulties.
DLC would be nice, and I would day-one that immediately if they brought it out. I feel like DLC could somewhat finish Cal’s story, purely because we know by the original trilogy he is nowhere to be found, and he obviously fails restoring the Jedi order.
That would give Respawn the ability to focus on another story using the same engine going forward, all while making a lot of money in the process. I love Cal’s story, and I guess I just want to see it finished. I suppose I’m impatient, but more importantly, I don’t want this to be it with the game.
