The Boys “The Insider” Review

Season 4 Episode 7 – Hey kids! Did you know your neighbor, uncle, or even Mom and Dad might be trying to destroy America? Find out how to stop them on the Avenue V Christmas Special! If you see something, say something!

Please note, our reviews are based on likes and dislikes. These contain significant spoilers. If you haven’t already watched the episode, we recommend that you click off the article and come back once you have watched the episode. Enjoy!

What I Liked

1. Butcher explains to The Boys about the virus and the situation progressing over the last couple of episodes. Butcher also manages to get Mallory to pull some strings to get Frenchie out of prison, against his will of course but it’s nice to see the band back together again.

2. That Supe shapeshifter was disturbing, to say the least. As Butcher, Hughie, and Starlight chase the shapeshifter down, she’s tearing her skin apart to change—the sounds, the splats, utterly wonderful.

3. MM is packing up and leaving with his family. The panic attacks have gotten to him. A-Train drops by and makes a perfect statement. He mentions just because they’re leaving, does he believe Homelander and Vought won’t find him? I love this slow A-Train turn but I’m ready to see the full turn now.

4. Nice meeting you, Web Weaver. It only felt like HALF an episode but the suit was nice. Homelander has no care in the world whatsoever and that scene proved it.

5. Kimiko finally tells us why she can’t speak. As a child, she wasn’t allowed to speak until she had a knife fight, she was then only allowed to speak when she killed the other person. Since then she’s suffered serious issues and one of those is the inability to speak. It’s a sad story but I’m glad we got to understand why she can’t speak.

6. It’s now Butcher and Starlight vs Deep and Black Noir after Homelander sends the two of them to kill Butcher. Deep and Black Noir do get the upper hand and just as Deep is about to kill Starlight, A-Train intervenes to stop Deep. What a moment!!

7. Sage explains to Homelander that this was all part of her plan when it came to the A-Train leak. Homelander kicks her out of the Seven and explains she is lucky not to go home in a bucket. I love nothing more than seeing the Seven completely implode.

8. Is this Deadpool or Kimiko? Seeing her with a baby leg is on the same level of disturbing as it was with Deadpool. Hilarious though.

What I Disliked

Nothing to report this week.

Favorite Moment

A-Train vs Deep was easily the best moment. Granted, this particular fight didn’t last long but it was so damn good. This is honestly incredible! Starlight then intervenes and batters Deep. This is beyond difficult to try and write into words. These moments may be the best moments of the entire series!

Standout Character

Surprisingly, I’m giving it to Starlight here. She was fantastic this week. The step up at the fight and finally going one-on-one with Deep was long awaited. I thought she was the best character in this week.

Verdict

Easily the best episode this season. It’s been far too long since we’ve watched some equal matchups and A-Train’s eventual turn has been fantastic. I am excited to see what the finale has in store with us because that’s set everything up perfectly.
