Why Superman & Lois Season 4 Will Mark The End Of An Era

Superman and Lois’s fourth and final season will be with us on October 7th, 2024. This will be the final DC show on The CW Network. The last season ended on a cliffhanger so we’re curious as to how the fourth season will begin and end.

Superman and Lois was confirmed weirdly to never be part of the Arrowverse but the characters were technically still part of the universe in parts, more so with the crossover events. I still find it odd that they built these 2 characters into Elseworlds and then decided to branch to a different story but honestly, I was okay with it. Simply because seasons 1 and 2 were brilliant.

When it comes to The CW and their roster, they held the reigns for some of the best superhero television in history. Granted, there were a lot of low points within The CW but in the beginning, it was enjoyable. I’ll never forget the feeling of being genuinely excited to finish work just to get home for an episode of Arrow or The Flash.

It’s why Superman and Lois is so prevalent now more than ever because since the likes of Arrow, Batwoman and the rest of The CW shows ended, it hasn’t quite felt the same. There was always a show ongoing and if there wasn’t, you didn’t have long to wait. There’s this weird void now since that happened.

There are rumors out there that the fourth and final season will suffer budget cuts which include a shorter season length and fewer characters. If that’s the case then I can’t say I’m surprised. The CW always starts strong with a series and then it gradually degrades. Superman & Lois being honest did suffer with this by the third season but I’m hoping since it’s one last ride, I’m hoping it’ll be great.

All in all, it’s a sad time. The CW has been making DC shows for 12 years. The time invested has been one thing but it’s been a journey. All of the stories told, characters built, deaths, cameos, easter eggs, it’s all coming to an end. I don’t think there will ever be a universe in the TV world that will capture me the way the Arrowverse did.

This isn’t really a news article or anything, it’s more me remembering this phenomenal universe that embraced our screens for so many years.
