Does Deadpool & Wolverine Still Hold Up To The Hype?

The magnitude of hype around Deadpool & Wolverine when it was first released was insane, the amount of people talking, sharing, and just generally buzzing about the film was intense and it’s still spoken about to this day.

The film also gave a lot of people hope about the Marvel Cinematic Universe going forward again as in recent years, the hype surrounding the MCU has dwindled and not a lot of people were truly excited about anything that was released, there were also negative comments to say about it, with Deadpool & Wolverine, I saw nothing of this.

With the film now releasing on digital, my question is… does it still hold up to the original hype when it was first released, or are people now seeing the movie for what it really is?

Now, after rewatching it on digital, I can safely say that this hype is still there. From the moment that first dance scene hit with Deadpool, the hype was right back there at 100%. The movie oozes perfection. From the story to the jokes to the action and the serious tone, the film takes at certain parts.

Now, there are a few things I want to speak about. The first being the acting by both Ryan and Hugh. While we knew that these two being on screen together was going to be comedy gold, what we didn’t expect was the serious place that both of these actors could go to.

There were times within this movie where the two were either cracking a joke and then boom, there into a serious tone and serious monologue where you sort of sit back and go “Wow, this acting is supreme.” It truly caught me off guard.

Next is the appearance of the extra heroes and villains within this movie. While the villains were not needed at all, it was nice to see all the different variants of previous villains from previous movies within Marvel.

The heroes that appeared were not just thrown in as well, they each served a purpose, and had a story, and some even got to debut a long-forgotten character like Channing Tatum’s Gambit. A character portrayal that we thought we’d never see, who is currently in the same place Ryan was with Deadpool.

The next is what I prefer as the “cameos” of the movie. The cast from previous Deadpool movies such as the likes of Vanessa, Colossus, and more with the exception of Peter as he had somewhat of an important role within the movie.

While these characters were mainly cameos, they were the true motivation for the movie and that’s all that they needed to be. They were the catalyst for Wade doing what Wade was doing throughout this movie.

Overall, the movie that this hype had when released in theaters is still there as of writing this article. For me, among many others, this will be the movie of the year and I will forever state that this will be. No other movie will touch the #1 movie of this year.
