What I Liked

1. Paying homage to the OG Superman was a great opening. We see Clark walk down a side street and quickly change clothing to go and save the day, then return to a phone box to change back into Clark. I loved that including the suit.

    2. I love the way Superman is attempting to convince the people of Smallville he is not Superman. The Coach convincing was hilarious.

    3. I’m with Jordan and Jon in terms of the argument. Clark asks if anybody else knows about their secret, and the boys admit Candice knows. Clark goes off on one and mentions he should’ve let Candice breakup with him. I’m sorry but the boys have been careful and the town knowing their secret is down to Superman anyway for losing that fight. I’m glad the two of them backed each other’s play there.

    4. Clark finally tells the world who he is which I think is the best thing for him and the family. Too many people are getting wind and they’re absolutely right if Lex is behind the secret getting out. The interview was well done and I enjoyed seeing reactions from people in Smallville.

    5. Throughout the episode, we see Clark in his days at The Daily Planet trying so desperately to maintain his secret, including a breakdown in his relationship with Jimmy Olsen (portrayed by someone different than the Supergirl series). It goes full circle at the end after Superman reveals his identity as they share a hug and a laugh in the diner, being the first time Clark has hung out with a friend – something the boys mentioned he’s never done previously. It was a wholesome moment, to say the least.

    What I Disliked

    Nothing to report this week.

    Favorite Moment

As Clark and Lois share a beautiful moment with Chrissy and Kyle, Candice’s father enters the diner. He outs Clark in front of the entire diner and goes off on one eventually pulling a gun out on Kyle. He does fire a round at Clark where time slows down, he decides on what he wants to do but he removes his glasses and unbuttons his shirt. The bullet bounces, and as time speeds back up, he stands in full suit in front of the diner. What a moment this was.

    Standout Character

I think based on the reveal in the diner alone, it has to be Superman. The entire episode centered around him trying so desperately hard to keep his secret but coming to the realization that it causes more issues everywhere else. A perfect portrayal of a completely unique Superman we’ve never seen before.

    Verdict

Wholesome. That’s the best way I can describe this episode. You can almost feel the weight lift from the Kent family’s shoulders once the secret is revealed to the entire world. This is an episode that showcases when The CW put their minds to it, they can make a pretty great story.
