Assassin’s Creed Shadows Delayed Again

Ubisoft has made the decision to delay Assassin’s Creed Shadows once more. The game is now set to launch on March 20, 2025. The reason for this delay is to “refine and polish” the adventure and to deliver a “high-quality, immersive experience”.

It is no secret that this game is one of the games that has to do well after consistent failures with such games as Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, and the more recent Star Wars Outlaws.

These titles have underperformed on expectations so there is a high bar set with Assassin’s Creed. XDefiant, which garnered strong reviews on launch, failed and ultimately would be shut down as the support for the game did not grow enough to sustain the game in the long run.

With rumors growing that Ubisoft wanted to stay independent, internal and market pressures may lead to the company being sold. In October 2024 rumors began to circulate that Tencent could be interested in purchasing the company, could we see this in Ubisofts future if Assassin’s Creed follows the previous game’s failures?

Honestly, I’m glad Ubisoft is taking a step back and delaying the game to spend more time working on the game and I hope that they truly deliver a great game that surpasses people’s expectations.

What do you think about the delay and is it time for Ubisoft to be sold?
