Over the course of the last 24 hours, it seemed like the news coming from within DC studios just did not want to stop with a lot of things being spoken about as well as announced. Let’s break it down.
Obviously we know about the movies and series that is currently being worked on from Superman to Peacemaker season 2 to Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow as well as the Green Lantern HBO series which has started production.
James Gunn and Peter Safran spoke about multiple projects including the status of the first five films including “Batman: The Brave and The Bold”, “The Authority”, “Waller”, and “Boost Gold”. They also confirmed a handful of other projects too.

The Batman villain Clayface will be getting his own film, which is being directed by James Watkins. An official announcement was also made regarding a live-action Teen Titans movie. An animated series for Blue Beetle, and the the future of the Sgt. Rock movie now that Daniel Craig has withdrawn from the total role.
Safran also noted that ultimately is aiming to release two live-action movies and one animated film per year with two live-action and two animated TV series per year. This was reiterated by the executives who stated that no project would be greenlit until Gunn and Safran were satisfied with a completed screenplay.
According to Safran, Matt Reeves is yet to turn in a full script but what they have read is incredibly encouraging while they reluctantly spoke about a second season of Penguin starring Colin Farrell stating “We don’t know, there are a lot of moving pieces, most importantly, Colin himself.”
Colin said “I would hate to, just because of a quote-unquote success, have to go again and for it to be a diluted version of what people seem to feel it is, I’m in no rush. I have no deep desire to do it”
Speaking about Robert Pattinson as The Batman, Gunn said it was “very unlikely” that Pattinson would reprise the role for The Brave and The Bold movie but he did not foreclose the possibility that the DCU version of the character could show up before his own film.
Gunn stated, “I wouldn’t rule anything out, He could show up in something else but the actor doesn’t exist yet.”
In other DC news, The Wonder Woman video game has been officially canceled. Warners Bros is shutting down Monolith Productions, Player First Games, and WB San Diego. James Gunn has spoken to NetherRealm and Rocksteady about developing more DC games.
A series of Krypto shorts are in the works at DC. A new Super Powers series is in the works at DC. The first logo for My Adventures with Green Lantern has been revealed. An animated series that will serve as an origin story for Starfire is happening with the logo also being revealed.
The following DC projects have had problems in development.
- Waller – Still haven’t cracked the scripts yet
- Booster Gold – Showrunner almost joined but lost interest
- The Authority – The script had a harder time coming along.
