Invincible “I Thought You’d Never Shut Up” Review

Season 3 Episode 8 – “With the world still reeling, a dangerous stranger arrives – testing Mark to his limits and beyond.“

What I Liked

1. The episode begins where the last episode left out. Mark and Conquest punch each other, which causes a shockwave in the city. In the opening minutes, it’s establishing Conquest as a major threat just by the sentence he speaks.

2. I think this is one of the only times Mark is not holding back as we actually see him use a lot of his power to hit Conquest and it comes to the point where Mark has actually made Conquest bleed… although I think Conquest loves this.

3. Conquest turns the tables on Mark. He absolutely demolishes Mark, literally punching him around the city and into different cities where he tells Mark that he only needs the right motivation to start a proper fight. This is when Oliver arrives and instantly gets hit by Conquest.

4. Atom Eve arrives at the fight between Conquest and Mark which results in Mark losing his focus for a split second when Conquest chops Mark’s leg which causes Mark to break his leg. Atom Eve then uses some of her powers to attack Conquest.

5. Conquest ruins Eve’s constructs and immediately starts beating her down even going as far as putting his hand through her stomach. Which severely injures Eve.

6. We get to see Rex’s funeral. Where Rudy changes his name to Rex so that Rex’s name can live on. We see the heroes come out to pay respect to Rex. We get to see Eve do her speech. It took Rex to give his life for the heroes to truly respect him.

What I Disliked

Favorite Moment

Eve being close to death, angers Mark even more. Mark breaks Conquest’s cybernetic arm and just starts pumbling him. Eve heals herself while Mark is beating down Conquest. Eve uses her powers to literally burn the skin and uniform off of Conquest.

Standout Character

I really want to give this to Mark but ultimately I’m giving this to Conquest. What a force to be reckoned with.

Verdict

Overall, this episode concluded the story of this season with a huge battle between Mark and Conquest. The story wrapped up perfectly and even opened doors for the next season of Invincible. The action was fantastic and the quality of the episode was perfect.
