Tron: Ares Looks Interestingly Good

I’ve been a fan of Tron since I first watched Tron Legacy starring Garrett Hedlund. I’ve pretty much stated since that first viewing that I would love a sequel to this, preferably with Garrett returning to the role of Sam Flynn.

Tron: Legacy was released way back in 2010, so it only took a short time of 15 years for a sequel to be released. While it’s not what I expected to see in a Tron movie, it does look very interesting and seemingly good.

Tron: Ares

The premise of the film is “Tron: Ares follows a highly sophisticated program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings.

The cast is also stacked with great talent from the likes of Jared Leto as Ares, Evan Peters, Jodie Turner-Smith, Cameron Monaghan, Gillian Anderson, and Jeff Bridges returns as Kevin Flynn. I am very curious to see how Jeff Bridges’ return fits into this movie.

As the trailer above shows, we get to see a police chase with two Tron bikes, we then get to see how the Trons’ powerlines on their bikes are able to slice through the police car, so we know that their weapons within the grid are able to hurt human’s and buildings/cars.

This is what has captured my attention, the whole game coming into the real world aspect of the game. We’ve always had the human enter the grid as seen in the very first Tron, with Kevin being the protagonist in that film and even Sam being lured into the grid in Tron: Legacy.

I am hoping that this movie does well enough to continue to get sequels as the Tron franchise is some of the most underrated content within movies.
