Season 5 Episode 17 “Supergirl must deal Season 5 Episode 17 with the destructive aftermath of Lex’s nefarious plans. Shocked at what Lex has created, Supergirl faces her biggest challenge yet.“
The Good & The Bad
The Good
1. We start of this weeks episode by seeing Supergirl and Martian Manhunter in the sky searching for the newly escaped Lex then out of nowhere Martian Manhunter drops and has to be saved by Supergirl, we find out that since he killed Manchester Black his Martian ways of being a man of peace is being affected by the choice to kill, we see him go into his mind and speak with his father (Carl Lumbry).
2. We slowly are starting to see Colonel Haley come round to Supergirl’s side in this episode by letting Supergirl help the DEO search for Lex and Eve at the start of the episode and at the end of the episode know’s Supergirl is being framed for the White House Attack.
3. We finally see a deep meaningful conversation between Supergirl and Lena about how Supergirl always see’s the negative in what Lena is doing even though she’s saved countless people and Supergirl admits she should trust Lena properly and apologizes to her.
4. Now for me, this last good point was good for me personally because I love the Metallo character and we see a version of this in Eve’s secret lab.
The Bad
1. Ben Lockwood getting to go into the White House and just getting all this praise for murdering innocent Aliens seeking refuge on Earth, getting amendments thrown out because of his agenda.
2. Now this point was corny, we see Supergirl, Lena and Alex go to see Eve’s cousin and her terrible acting put me off the scene so much I could barely watch, the dialogue was terrible and it felt like a try hard for a laugh.
3. James pushing his sister away and being stubborn about his health and PTSD from getting shot and wanting to believe it wasn’t because of Lex Luthor, I am interested to see what happens between him and his sister going forward.
4. Eve is working with a mastermind criminal, a genius and just protective of everything his does, so why did Eve have the easiest password on a secret computer? her password was ”ILoveLex”.
5. Speaking of Lex, he was missing from this episode, all we seen was a photo of him on a TV, he should be in every episode going forward.
Holy Shit Moment
Now I should of saw this coming but I didn’t and it caught me off guard, while Supergirl, Lena and Alex were searching Eve’s secret lab they found a gun which bullets matched the one which shot James and it was revealed that Eve shot him for Lex.
This next moment was just crazy, we see Supergirl get trapped in a kryptonite infused Lex power armor which weakened Supergirl and then that allowed for the Kasnian Supergirl to dress as the real Supergirl and attack the White House seemingly killing everyone and framing the real Supergirl making her the number 1 enemy of the USA.
Verdict
This was a really good episode, but it wasn’t as great as the last 2 episodes which had Lex involved, this episode gave us a emotional conversation with Supergirl and Lena, it showed J’onn dealing with his decision on Manchester Black, it set up a future battle between Supergirl and Lex and the Kasnian Supergirl.
