Season 5 Episode 15 “Nia’s roommate is attacked by a man targeting Dreamer; Dreamer refuses to give into the man’s threats and puts herself in the line of fire to stop him; Alex, J’onn and Kelly attempt to rescue a man stuck inside a virtual reality escape room.”
What I Liked
1. A bit of a crazy start. Nia’s roommate is catfished and attacked for hate crimes against the transgender community. Nia’s anger is crazy different. She isn’t out for the standard justice Kara seeks, she wants to put him down. You know it’s predictable that she will be talked down later in the episode, but this side of Nia is quite exciting.
2. Alex enters into the virtual reality with Kelly assisting. As she’s going through her experience settings, you see a shot of her holding a baby. You see Alex notice it, that’s quite interesting.
3. As Kelly explains the virtual reality, it has me awfully curious. The way it works, and how it works. It’s great to finally see this in full form.
4. Alex and Kara’s father, Jeremiah has been found and pronounced dead. On the back of that, that old weird creepy woman at the start seems to be at the forefront of something huge. Especially having Patrick in the hospital.
What I Disliked
1. Nia goes online, begins a dating profile and you’re trying to tell me within minutes, with no other requests, the Hunter is the person that messages her? Seriously?
2. I called at the beginning. Dreamer takes the trans hunter down, and she’s almost ready to kill him until Kara shows up and talks her down. What’s the point of building the ark up for it to be predictably let down?
Favourite Moment
Well, Alex manages to find Trevor. Richard, the guy that creates the escape rooms, comes up against Alex. She puts him down with ease, as he wakes up J’onn just throws him against a wall. Easy pickings, quick, I like it!
Standout Character
It was a tough one to choose from this week but I have to give it to Nia. She was relentless in this episode. Even taking down a Dominator, and wiping the trans hunter out with pure ease. She was great, and the acting was impressive as she battles different emotions.
Verdict
This week was one of those episodes that was good, but easily forgettable, and that seems to be a running issue with Supergirl. Especially Jeremiah’s death, I completely forgot about him. Still, it was a good episode nonetheless and I wouldn’t take that away from it. I just think the show needs to create some special impacts.
