Miles Morales is growing more popular as the months go by, I think mainly due to the comics, animations, and even more so after the Into The Spiderverse movie in 2018.
Currently, Tom Holland is the best live-action iteration of Spider-Man that we’ve ever had and plays the role exceptionally well. I also know Tom has a few more years left in him first, but I do believe Miles should begin to be introduced.
We all know Peter Parker’s story now. We’ve had 3 different actors take on the role in the last 18 years, spanning across 7 movies. Not including Tom’s performances in Civil War, Infinity War and Endgame.
It makes sense to begin switching up from Peter and introducing Miles to eventually take on the mantle as the main focal point of Spider-Man.
There’s still quite a number of people who don’t even know who Miles is, even after the surge in popularity in recent years. I mean, they don’t even know the monumental amount of people that have similar powers across the multiverse.
Miles’ first appearance in the comics was in 2011. He’s not even that old of a character, so it makes sense that many casual fans may not have heard of him. However, this is also a great thing!
The fact the character was only created 9 years ago leaves the doors open to potentially play with the characters origin story a bit. It was slightly different in comparison to the Into The Spiderverse movie and the Spider-Man PS4 game.
His powers are also fantastic. He has a venom blast, an energy burst, and invisibility, some things Peter actually doesn’t have. In the recent standalone Spider-Man PS5 game, we get a tease of just what Miles is actually capable of.
You can see the trailer if you haven’t already here;
We did get a small tease in the Homecoming movie of Miles’ uncle when Spider-Man webbed him to the car, but nothing else came from that.
If Marvel has already teased him in such a short manner, then surely this can mean they do have plans in the future to introduce a young Miles. Maybe in the third instalment of Spider-Man?
Tom Holland will have been playing the role for a number of years by this point, and if the rumours are true that the entire Sinister 6 will be involved, then, I guess he’s going to need all the help he can get, right?
Of course, I know Tom has only been playing his role as Peter for 4 years currently, and he’s only 24 years old in real life. So, it’s understandable that he continues to play the role for more years to come. More importantly, I do think it’s going to be time soon to at least introduce a very young Miles.
Similar to how the PS4 game managed to do it, it could be great. Then slowly transition Miles into becoming the Spider-Man going forward.
It would also be great to transition this slow-moving process into a fully-fledged Peter and Miles movie, showcasing Peter training Miles after the eventual bite from the radioactive spider.
