Agents of SHIELD “What We’re Fighting For” Finale Review – Hour Two

Season 7 Episode 12 “With Nathaniel and Sibyl edging ever closer to eliminating S.H.I.E.L.D from the history books, the agents must rely on their strengths to outsmart and outlast the Chronicoms.”

What I Liked?

1. The second part of the finale kicks off with Fitz trying to explain to the team that there is a way to save the original timeline where the team came from. He mentions that he saw many versions of how it played out but this timeline is the best option. Kora is the key to saving the original timeline. He also mentions they can switch between the timeline by traveling through the Quantum Realm.

2. Deke manages to figure out how the team can go back to the original timeline but it would come with a sacrifice of someone staying behind and pressing a button at the same time as them in space. Sousa being a “man out of time” offers to stay behind but Deke ultimately makes the sacrifice of staying behind.

3. Deke and Mack both get ready to press the button at the same time. They say their goodbyes and press the button, the team in space in the Zephyr enter the Quantum Realm along with the Chronicoms. While Deke stays behind and essentially becomes Director of SHIELD in this alternate timeline.

4. Fitz is trying to get Simmons to remember him and the plan by doing it by using small things, he mentions a story and Simmons fills in the blanks. The story of how they made this plan was crazy but amazing.

5. Fitz, Simmons, and YoYo return to the temple from last season and they have to work with their past selves without speaking to them. They do this just before the temple gets blown up by the Chronicoms.

6. Coulson plans on getting captured by Sibyl, he has to play it realistically so he goes along with it until Sibyl puts in her code on her machine to inform the Chronicom soldiers but this was the plan all along as The Cavalry comes smashing through the roof… May. May and Coulson quickly disarm Sibyl and the soldiers while Mack brings Kora to the bridge. Kora uses her powers to plant empathy into the Chronicoms inside the lighthouse base which are nearly about to kill Fitz, Simmons, and YoYo.

7. A small nod to Captain America when Nathanial gives of the line “I Can Do This All Day” to Quake in their battle together.

8. At the end of the episode, we see the team meet up one year later, Mack becomes similar to Nick Fury, he builds a new Helicarrier, has the long leather jacket. Yoyo becomes one of SHIELDs best agents. May becomes a student-teacher at the Coulson Academy, Fitz and Simmons retire and become a family, Daisy starts a relationship with Sousa while them two and along with Kora start a space team. Coulson takes a long sabbatical and gets a present from Mack, an updated Lola car.

What I Disliked?

Absolutely nothing.

Favorite Moment

Daisy goes full Quake on Nathanial inside the Chronicom ship destroying the ship, Nathanial, and all other ships. Daisy survives but floats around in space before getting rescued by the team then getting healed by Kora.

Standout Character

I can not for the love of my life choose just one character, especially for this finale so I’ll give everyone a standout character nomination this week.

The Verdict

Such a fitting end for a perfect season. The end of the show was amazing, ended with such an intense yet amazing story. Not only did the show come to an end but Coulson’s journey came to an end too, even though he’s technically not the same Coulson but it’s still super emotional. Perfect, amazing, and outstanding. A couple of potential spin-off shows work from this.
