The Boys “We Gotta Go Now” Review

Season 2 Episode 5 “Butcher has no more intentions to fight with Sups but Black Noir traced his location and found him what will he do now? Sups are shooting a film name – #Dawn Of The Seven. Homelander is doing what Stormfront told him to do.”

What I Liked

1. Homelander has been caught on video killing an innocent person in the process of killing a terrorist. The public’s views on him are changing, and we see more and more anger coming from him as time goes on. Nothing seems to be going his way at the moment, as much as he tries to make it so.

2. Kimiko is still fueled by anger and is taking it out on those she sees fit. Since the death of her brother she has not held back, we see this as she goes into a bar and brutally kills 3 men.

3. Stormfront is certainly keeping us on the edge of our seats at the moment. She is certainly up to something, but I’m not sure what it is or what her reasons are, but its certainly keeping me intrigued to find out.

4. Black Noir is after Butcher who is currently hiding out in his Auntie’s house. As the pair come face to face Marvin and Hughie try to help, but Marvin ends up with a knife in his chest in the process. After Butcher announces that he has images of Homelanders son, Black Noir is called off and forced to leave, and Butcher seems to have his “Spunk back” as he would probably say.

5. Tensions rise between Starlight and Stormfront, who both know each other’s secrets.

What I Disliked

1. Butcher walked into what appeared to be a rave and punched a guy for what seems like no reason, causing a brawl. This was such a pointless and unnecessary scene.

2. The first half of the episode dragged a bit for me, it was quite a slow start.

3. I feel like there is more lined up for these characters however I must say Maeve and A-train haven’t really done anything outstanding so far this season.

Standout Character

Although he did have a bad scene, I can’t hold that against him as he didn’t write the script. Butcher has to take the standout character for me this week. We learned a lot about his past, and he seemed to have some form of redemption towards the end when he came face to face with Black Noir.

Verdict

A slow start to the episode, however, it picked up massively in the second half. A lot of action and focus on each character. It certainly made up for the beginning.
