With movies being delayed left, right and centre due to the COVID19 pandemic, we don’t really have much to look forward to anymore when it comes to this department.
The only proper blockbuster movie to hit cinemas recently was Tenet. Almost everything else has been pushed back to around Spring of 2021, to give time for the pandemic to calm down or hopefully, be vaccinated.
Free Guy currently has a release date of December 2020, and whilst there’s still plenty time for a delay, as of now, it’s still to go ahead as planned which is a fantastic way to end the year.
We know Marvel has delayed most of their movies including Eternals and Black Widow, whilst Sony has pushed Venom 2 back as well. Plus many more delays.
I believe at this point, fans just aren’t surprised when it comes to delays anymore. Some believe these movies should be put on streaming platforms but I disagree, these are blockbuster movies designed to generate hundreds of millions. It’s completely understand these companies want to delay their movies when there’s so much at stake.
However, that’s not to say the situation will be any better come Spring 2021. It could be a lot worse, or largely the same. This is why fans are lead to think; “what’s the point getting excited anymore?” It’s a question I’ve seen a lot.
So, hopefully, the Free Guy movie will take a lot of us away from reality and embrace ourselves in another epic Ryan Reynolds journey, especially with the movie’s released expected so close to Christmas. All holidays are going to be weird this year including Christmas and Halloween, so this will be amazing if it went ahead as planned.
I know I for one would love to be back in the cinema, and if this happens – you can bet I’m going to be there.
Here’s the second trailer if you missed it;
