Well, it’s technically a game we almost got. At E3 in 2012, LucasArts gave us a trailer for Star Wars: 1313. A bounty hunter game focused on Boba Fett navigating Level 1313, which is on the known planet Coruscant.
Unfortunately, the game was subsequently cancelled after Disney bought the studio, and the game rights went over to EA.
The game was a success at the E3 showing, with a majority of fans excited for the upcoming game. You can even see the trailer for yourself here;
The game looked as though it was going to be a linear, story-driven type game. Very similar to The Force Unleashed.
I believe after the success of that trailer and the success of The Mandalorian, is a video game for Din Djarin that far fetched? Maybe.
For me, The Mandalorian is perhaps the best Star Wars content we have had in many years. Fallen Order and Cal Kestis was the next best, but it shows due to the soaring popularity of the characters themselves.
Fortnite recently added Mandalorian’s character to the game and set out objectives in order to upgrade the armour to Beskar. Something this game could look at.
What would I like to see?
Well, a lot. Without sounding too entitled, this game would have a mass amount of potential. The upgrades and customisation options would be fantastic, especially the ability to upgrade the armours given.
The arsenal of weapons that Din has used from his pistol, to the sniper, and even to the eventual darksaber we know he’s most likely going to wield.
We could have the Razor Crest and other ships to explore different planets, and create friends and alliances along the way. Similar to how he does it within the show.
Not to mention the actual story itself, it could really work.
Star Wars is a universe with untapped potential, so is The Mandalorian. I feel like, over the course of a number of years, a lot of the video games have been pretty lacklustre over recent years with the exception of a standout here and there.
We mention the universe has untapped potential, the video game universe does as well. We know EA is currently working on a couple of new Star Wars titled, and a Fallen Order sequel is all but confirmed at this point, but a Mandalorian title would surely be incredible.
