Let's TalkShowsStar Wars

Why The Clone Wars Are Important

Recently I signed up to Disney+, simply because of The Mandalorian. I figured I’d go back to watch the movies, maybe rewatch Star Wars Rebels but I changed my mind, I decided to watch The Clone Wars from the beginning.

I’ve watched episodes of The Clone Wars over the years but not in order, I’ve also watched clips on YouTube, the only thing I watched from the beginning was season 7 of The Clone Wars.

I’ve wanted to do this for a while, especially when I’m seeing people praise the show basically on a daily basis. So I decided to make it my mission to watch a hand full of episodes per day.

I haven’t watched it from beginning to end but I am currently a couple of episodes off of season 4 of the series. I have already noticed why people praise it. Why they talk so highly about the show, stories, and characters.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Let’s start off with the stories, the stories are straight-up amazing. Each episode is a new part of the battle we didn’t get to see in the movies. There are arcs that span over multiple episodes, while some only last an episode but nonetheless, nothing is ever the same.

While some episodes are clearly filler episodes, that doesn’t even matter as they still capture your attention. The story also shines a light on many of the Clones, it gives them backstory, names, and arcs. Something we didn’t get to see in live-action form.

We get to see Obi-Wan do missions with Cody, Anakin working with Rex, many other clones that made a sacrifice, we also got to see many Jedi we saw on the Jedi council in live-action, have actual lightsaber duels or stories.

Not to mention we got an even bigger Jango Fett focused mission involving Mace Windu and a child Boba Fett. We got to see Plo Koon bring in Ahsoka, we got to see Ahsoka grow.

That’s another thing, the character development in this series is beyond perfect. The characters have steady development, some are fast and some are insanely slow like Anakin’s slow turn to the dark side. We get hints throughout the series.

Now to mention some of the bad guys like Count Dooku, how much of a formidable opponent he was to not only Anakin and Obi-Wan but to the Jedi in general. Asajj Ventress, Cad Bane, Trandoshian’s, and others are all showcased insanely well.

The series just showcases Jedi missions in general, something live-action never truly did. I finally see why this series is so important to the lore of Canon and the Lore of the movies.

The series maybe a few years old but it’s still fully recommended to watch, for any Star Wars casual viewers or any sci-fi fan in general.
