In the animated series “The Clone Wars” we got to see everything from in between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith and everything involving the Jedi and the Republic.
Along the way, we got introduced to countless Clone troopers, got to learn their backstories, their names, their personalities, and ultimately their fates throughout the Clone Wars.
Most of the time you see them be killed in the background, other times you have entire story arcs for a single Clone trooper. You essentially come to love and think of them more as a human than a Clone created from the DNA of Jango Fett on Kamino.
Over the course of 7 seasons and 4 seasons of Star Wars Rebels, I got to learn and become a fan of countless Clones, but in this article, I’ll break down my top 5 Clone troopers.
5. CC-3636 aka “Wolffe”
Wolffe was a Commander for the 104th Battalion and served under the Jedi General Plo Koon. Wolffe displayed many strategy missions and tactics throughout the Clone Wars and was one of the major Commanders who actually cared for his troopers.
Wolffe was a badass, he has major battles under his belt and even went toe to toe with Asajj Ventress, however, in the battle with Ventress he did lose an eye to her lightsaber and was forced to wear a cybernetic eye but he still continued his military service.
4. CC-2224 aka “Cody”
Cody first made his debut in Revenge of the Sith serving under Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi. Like his brother Rex, Cody had some loyalty towards Obi-Wan, going on countless missions and battles with him.
We got to see Cody in live-action form in Revenge of the Sith when he executed Order 66 on Jedi General Obi-Wan, he later went on to serve with the 212th legion as “stormtroopers” in the Imperial Age and was even part of the final enslavement of Kashyyyk.
3. Hunter Clone Commander for Clone For 99
Hunter made my list because of his background and story. We originally saw a “pre-made” version of Hunter when the leaked unfinished episodes of the final season of The Clone Wars released. We finally got to meet Hunter in the first half of Season 7.
Hunter was the leader of Clone Force 99 who is all mutated Clones with enhanced abilities. Like his name, Hunter is a skilled tracker and can find anything. He has a slight resemblance to Rambo as well.
2. CT-5555 aka “Fives”
Fives got his name from his code name CT-5555, he later went on to become an Advanced Recon Commando. He was a skilled soldier, as one of two survivors of a Separatist attack, he was recruited into the 501st Legion which was a big deal in the Clone Wars serving under Rex and Jedi General Anakin.
Fives was on a mission when Tup another Clone had his brain inhibitor chip malfunction causing him to kill a Jedi earlier than the planned “Order 66”. He went on an undercover mission to find more information, having been framed as a traitor by Palpatine, Fives was executed by Commander Fox.
1. CT-7567 aka “Rex”
Now for the most loved Clone of all time, Captain Rex. Rex was a commander who served closely with Anakin throughout all of the Clone Wars. He could handle himself in any situation and was trusted enough to go on missions with padawan Ahsoka Tano.
Rex loved his brothers, he believed Fives and later on went to serve in the battle of Mandalore with Ahsoka Tano capturing Maul. He loved Ahsoka Tano that much that it gave him a few more seconds when Palpatine executed Order 66 giving Ahsoka time to get away and make a plan, she removes his chip and they try to escape a ship but a squad of 501st soldiers tried to stop them which failed so Rex and Ahsoka faked their deaths until later on when Rex came to help the Rebels.
There are plenty of other Clone troopers who stood out, but ultimately this was my top 5 Clones and I don’t think anyone can beat Captain Rex. A couple of other standouts are Gregor, Echo, the rest of the Clone Force 99, and a few others.
