Agents of SHIELD “Missing Pieces” Review

Season 6 episode 1 “Scattered across the galaxy, the team works to find their footing in the wake of losing Coulson.”

The Good & The Bad

The Good

1. The episode starts with action in space, we see a ship getting shot at and landing in unfamiliar territory and aliens boarding the ship with guns drawn. We see Sky(Quake) standing there, Alien scans her and get information about her and find out she’s Quake which sends them running. Quake is a name people must know throughout the galaxy.

2. Mack is such a great director of SHIELD. In this episode we see him in the mist of setting up a brand new SHIELD agency. Everything that involves SHIELD seems to be reopening and running smoothly.

3. We find out that Agent May has done incredible recruiting muscle but Mack says they need brains so they go to recruit one of May’s husbands friends which they let him know that they want him to reopen SHIELD Academy in honor of Phil Coulson.

4. Quake and Gemma are searching deep space for Fitz. They find half of his ship he was cryo-frozen on but no body. Gemma finds a clue and sends her and Quake into deep deep space.

The Bad

1. While the action back on Earth seems fast paced the Space arc seems slow. I know they’ve been searching but they’ve been in space for a year.

2. The show has basically departed the Marvel Cinematic Universe which sucks because in the current point the show is at, the Thanos Snap hasn’t happened.

Holy Shit Moment

Throughout the episode we see people jump through time and space. We see a man come through a wall and someone following him who has a bad “jump” and he gets half of his body turned into cement. We see more come then set of a “time” & “space” bomb which brings through a big 18 wheeler crashing through the SHIELD cars and Sarge steps out and kills a SHIELD agent. Agent May is in disbelief because Sarge is Coulson but not her Coulson.

Verdict

Great season 6 premiere episode. Excited to explore more Time and Space and to see what’s happened to Fitz. Such an interesting story with this new threat with Sarge a Coulson look-a-like villain and how he is going to impact the season and characters.

Rating: 7/10
