A Blue Beetle movie is officially in development over at DC Comics with Angel Manuel Soto set to direct the movie which is aiming to begin filming later this year.
“Charm City Kings” Direct Angel Manuel Soto is set to direct the movie which will be focused on Jaime Reyes.
The screenplay is from Mexican-born writer Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer who wrote Universal’s Scarface remake.
In DC Comics, the mantle of Blue Beetle is used by three different heroes but in the live-action movie, it will focus on Mexican-American teenager Jaime Reyes.
Angel Manuel Soto said “It is an honor to direct Blue Beetle, the first Latino superhero film for DC, I want to sincerely thank everyone at Warner Bros. and DC for trusting me to bring Jaime Reyes to life. I can’t wait to make history together.” in a statement given to TheWrap.
The filming is eyeing a fall production start, with Zev Foreman executive-producing for Warner Bros.
