There is a long history of Dragon Ball in animation, TV, Games, Books, Action figures, and more. Over the course of 20+ years, we’ve seen characters come and go, return, evolve into bigger and deadlier foes for the heroes in Dragon Ball.
Over the course of my time spent watching, reading, and playing Dragon Ball I’ve seen countless characters come and have had favorites over the years.
But what exactly is my top 5 characters from Dragon Ball?
05. Yamcha
You might be thinking, why is this idiot choosing Yamcha to be on this list of overly powered characters? Well for me Yamcha is underrated. When I was a kid, My older brother put me onto Dragon Ball, I always was drawn to Yamcha because of the scars, when I was a kid, I was like 6-7 yrs old so I didn’t really understand and I always thought it was Goku. Yamcha is cool man.
04. Future Trunks
Future Trunks was straight-up badass. I remember seeing his debut, coming in with that sword, destroying Frieza, and saving Goku. His design was super cool too. Felt like while he was a Saiyan, he didn’t really dress like others. No gi or nothing just pants, shoes and a jacket. I had loads of action figures for him too.
03. Vegeta
There isn’t much to say about Vegeta. He started off as a brutal invader of Earth, set on destroying everything and everyone including Goku. He then went on to be all about him. Throughout the years his character development has been insane. Especially when he sacrificed himself to destroy Majin Buu. I can not wait to see his next Saiyan form.
02. Goku
Goku has done it all man, he’s iconic. He’s lived, grew, evolved, trained, and even died to save the universe and planet Earth from being destroyed. The thing I like about Goku is that in serious fights he can be fun, he’s super laid back unlike Vegeta. But one thing with Goku is, do not piss him off, he will absolutely destroy you.
01. Gohan
Right off the bat, I’ll just say, Gohan has always been my favorite Saiyan. He’ll most likely always be. I want Gohan to surpass Goku in terms of power. Gohan is insanely strong, if he had kept on the training he would have been on the same level as Goku or Vegeta at this current time. The fight between him and Goku before the Tournament of Power was amazing. It was an insanely close fight that even made Goku go Super Saiyan Blue.
These are just my top 5 personal favorite heroes from inside the Dragon Ball universe. One surprising one being Yamcha, but obviously, there are more heroes I could have added like Tien, Krillin, Piccolo, or Whis.
But I just couldn’t fit them into my top 5 personal favorite. I’ll do a part 2 for my favorite villains.
Dragon Ball is a great universe to be a fan of, especially with how great the quality of every product they put out is from gaming to animation to the card game. Everything is just solid.
