Pennyworth “The Lion and Lamb” Review

Season 2 Episode 10 “In the season two finale, Salt is hell-bent on releasing Project Stormcloud upon London… Unless Alfred and his mates can stop it.”

What I Liked?

1. Gully is a mad man, he’s managed to survive being impaled by a branch by Alfie, he’s survived pulling it out and in the middle of the woods on his own, badly bleeding. He goes to Alfie’s home to look for him, he speaks with Alfie’s mother about where he is, she tells him he’s with the League.

2. Alfie returns home to his mother, he asks his mother that if his dad was there, what would she say to him? She asks why did he ask that, Alfie replies that they’ve found his body and that “he’s still in it”. She doesn’t believe him until she sees him roll in the room with his wheelchair.

3. Gully goes to the League headquarters looking for Alfie, he gets interested in the Stormcloud capsule, after a small scuffle, it breaks and they find out that it’s a fake. While this is happening, we are finding out that Stormcloud is already in London and is ready to be triggered.

4. The reunion between Alfie’s parents is honestly emotional until we find out that Alfie’s father lied, that this was his plan to see his family once more before the Stormcloud device is triggered. After a long emotional argument, Alfie’s father realizes he’s made a mistake and tells Alfie and Daveboy where the device is. In Lord Harwood’s coffin with his body. Alfie’s father unplugs his machine and tells his wife that he loves her before dying.

5. The New Raven Alliance storms London, bringing the city to war. Martha sees this on the TV and tries to get ready to go to war but before she can, her waters break. Bet is pinned down in the middle of the street by three tanks until Colonel Pennyworth arrives and saves the day with Gully as a super-soldier.

What I Disliked?

1. Even though the Raven Union Leader is close to triggering the gas bomb, I still dislike him, he just doesn’t seem like a useful villain, he’s not important and is just basically there. I honestly wish they kept Lord Harwood in the series. I actually liked him.

2. Why did we have to wait until the finale to see London in a war when it was teased so much throughout the episodes? I would have loved to see London in a full-blown war. I would have loved to have a war season, hopefully, we get that with and a big IF they renew the show for a season 3.

3. Thomas and Martha have a baby, you’d think oh, they’ve actually had baby Bruce in this show, no. It turns out they changed the potential story from a male to a female. Who is this baby girl? Bruce has never had an older sister in the comics?

Favorite Moment

When Alfie and DaveBoy find the bomb, they’re pinned down by gunfire until Gully and Lucius arrive, Lucius only knows one way to stop it when the reaction is happening, put it in a very heavy box and throw it in the water, Alfie offers to swallow the capsule, he goes to but Gully orders him to stop and that he’ll do it. After he does it Gully ends up “dying”, when his body gets carried out we hear him alive, and after the 6 month time jump we see that he’s a super-soldier.

Standout Character

Alfie’s father surprisingly won it this week. It was either between him, Alfie, or Gully, I spun a wheel, and Alfie’s father won.

The Verdict

A great finale to end the series. I can officially say that this was some of Jack Bannon’s best acting in the entire series, his acting was superb, especially the emotional scenes between Alfie’s relationships with his parents. The finale delivered so great action and reveals like Martha having a baby girl?
