Season 1 Episode 6 “Mark joins William and Amber on a campus visit to Upstate University, hoping to discover a new future for himself. Debbie makes her own disturbing discovery.”
What I Liked?
1. We begin the episode at Upstate University where 3 girls get scared by a drunken University student, we see him get kidnapped and drugged. He awakens to someone in a mask that has cut off part of his forearm and attached a metal arm. He then slits his throat and cuts out his voice box.
2. The episode also begins with Invincible, Black Sampson, and Monster Girl are being rushed into the hospital to save their lives. They are all in really bad shape, including Invincible who has a hole in his stomach. Black Sampson manages to heal himself but stays out of it. Mark awakens 6 days later.
3. We come to find out that Atom Eve wants to go off on her own and do her own thing since she can change things with her powers so wants to help people around the world. We see her create her own home in a tree, she then flies off and grows trees, stops an avalanche, and more.
4. The drunken student attacks the campus while Mark, Amanda, Rick, and William are there, Amanda starts to get the people to safety while Mark runs off to quickly change, Invincible arrives and saves William from the enhanced student, he realizes it’s Mark. Mark only wins the battle when he rips off the mask and the kid sees his own reflection in the water and commits suicide.
5. Debbie takes Nolan’s super suit to his tailor to find out, they find that there are friction bloodstains on his suit, Debbie says that maybe the Guardians of the Globe attacked Nolan first but the tailor reveals that Nolan attacked first, this is happening while Nolan is watching from in the sky.
Back at the house, Debbie returns and confronts Nolan about it, he says she’s drunk and they leave it at that but not before Nolan punches his hand through the living room wall.
What I disliked?
Mark and Amber restarting their relationship once again making it the third time in 6 episodes or so, it’s getting quite annoying to watch now. I understand why but it’s just annoying. Amber then has a go at Mark for “running away” and she leaves again. She was super annoying and just angry this episode.
Favorite Moment
Hands down the best moment for me was the end fight with Invincible and the 3 cyborgs. Invincible handles himself well but still takes an absolute beating by them. DA Sinclair then begins to cut Williams’s arm to make him into one but Rick realizes it’s William and helps Invincible, William then gets freed by Invincible then attacks Sinclair, Invincible then brutally breaks Sinclair’s jaw, such a powerful scene.
Standout Character
Atom Eve takes it this week. Mark would have, if he didn’t get into relationship issues.
The Verdict
An alright episode. The bits that Mark/Invincible wasn’t a part of were amazing, needed, and just all-around fine to watch. The invincible fight scenes were amazing as usual, but the Mark and Amber stuff let down Invincible’s story this week.
