I had an inkling way before The Falcon and the Winter Soldier aired that it would be a masterpiece, I wasn’t wrong even despite a small minority taking shots at it.
After Endgame, I was never hopeful that anybody could take the Captain America mantle and do it well. I say “do it well” because whoever takes the mantle going forward is NOT Steve Rogers, and we need to understand that.
However, after Falcon and the Winter Soldier took the world by storm, I have high hopes that Anthony Mackie will be a fantastic Captain America moving forward within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He did an exceptional job with his role in the show, and after all – he deserves a theatrical release for his very own movie.
It also makes sense, considering Sam and Bucky have been integral to the MCU’s story since 2014 when Captain America’s second movie came out, The Winter Soldier. They deserve to be in the limelight moving forward whether it’s in Disney+ or cinema.
We also need to understand that the MCU was never going to be the same after Endgame. Iron Man is dead, Captain America is “on the moon”, and the Avengers are scattered with no proper direction. Not to mention the sad and untimely passing of Chadwick Boseman who was posed to be the face of the MCU moving forward.
The movies are not going anywhere or letting up any time soon, but we need to know that they will be different – with different faces running the pack, and this includes Sam Wilson as our new Captain America. Honestly, I am all up for it.
The way he handled the shield and his Falcon suit in the finale was damn perfect, and the speech at the end cemented why he should be donning the role moving forward for some time in the MCU, even getting his own trilogy potentially.
We do also know that Chris Evans has signed a deal with Marvel Studios and Disney, so we are expecting him to show up in the movie – but obviously, at this stage, we don’t know anything, but there are many theories out there as to how Chris can return to the universe.
Captain America is a character that should be part of the Avengers for as long as the MCU plans them, and whoever is currently throwing the shield should be a huge part of that.
I know the 4th movie is probably 3 or 4 years away, but for now – we can get excited of what’s to come from Marvel.
