Season 1 Episode 8 – Clark encourages Lois to reach out for help after noticing her reaching a breaking point; Jonathan finds himself in a dangerous situation; Kyle encourages Sarah to audition for the musical revue at school.
What I Liked
01. Finally, a huge advancement in the story happens fairly early on. John lets Clark know that he and Lois were together on his earth, and whilst that’s happening Lois also finds out the same thing when visiting John’s RV.
2. Kyle and Sarah seem to be close this episode which is actually nice to see. Especially when it comes to Sarah performing at a play in high school, and Kyle helping her out where he can. We constantly keep seeing Kyle as this “suck-up” to Morgan Edge, so this is a nice change of pace, even if later in the episode he goes off on one.
3. Every single time Lois uses that device to call on Clark is just so damn intense. Jon activates lasers with turrets after snooping around the RV, Clark flies through in seconds and saves him. What a scene!
4. Well damn, Sarah is a great singer! That was a super lovely scene, the fact that Jordan stepped in to play the piano since Kyle didn’t bother turning up after finding out Lana lied to him.
5. That fight scene with the Kryptonite and Superman was intense. The Kryptonite smoke grenades being thrown around whilst they go punch for punch was great, even more so when John steps in to actually kind of save Clark.
What I Disliked
Nothing to report this week.
Favourite Moment
Elizabeth Tulloch who plays Lois is a fantastic actress, and the scene between her and her therapist is astounding. You actually sit back and just feel the emotional impact the miscarriage had on her. Phenomenal acting.
Standout Character
I’m giving it to Lois, and it mainly bottles down to the scenes between her and Jordan, also her and the therapist. The acting on display here was a masterpiece, and Elizabeth deserves a hell of a lot of praise for that.
Verdict
The episode advanced quite a bit in regards to the story, we’re now at a stage where the show theoretically could go anywhere and that’s brilliant. This episode is a testament to really great storytelling.
