Dragon Ball Super Card Game “Saiyan Surge” Expansion Set Review

I’m a huge fan of Dragon Ball Super Card Game, I believe these are the best trading collectible cards on the market in the day and age, these cards have everything, amazing artwork, a great feel to the cards, and the quality of the card that the game is printed on is always perfect, always tidy and neat, whereas Pokemon can be printed weirdly off-center.

For Beginners

I paid £13 for this expansion set, as a “new beginner” of collecting and potentially playing the game in the future, this is a great deal and a great place to start collecting, you can great promo cards, and 3 packs of Malicious Machinations booster packs.

This expansion set is a cheap box, the only issue is finding where to purchase the box itself, as the packs inside the actual box could potentially contain some hugely priced cards so people are going out their way to buy multiple boxes at a time.

For Collectors

Personally, I don’t truly see this box for a collector, this box is basically a 50/50 shot for a collector, buy the box and get average cards or buy the box and get very very lucky inside the packs by hitting one of the nicer cards in the set. For me, I got lucky, I managed to pull a super rare card.

While I don’t think I’ll be sending any of these cards off to get graded unless I truly want to, the cards I managed to pull, including the super rare can fill the rest of my binder out of where I’ve added super rares, foils, and more to it.

Purely For Profit

The promo cards you got in the expansion set itself are not worth much at all, while the artwork and quality are amazing, the price of the cards are all between £0.20 and £0.50 each and you get 13 foil cards, however, if you buy this purely for profit, the 3 packs of Malicious Machinations is where your profit is from.

For a single pack of Malicious Machinations, it’ll be around £5.11 per pack and you get 3 of them, so that’s the money-back right there, however, if your feeling lucky, you can open said packs and try to pull a profit from the cards inside. The 2 main hits I got from the packs were a normal foil card and a super rare card with the super rare card being around £4.50, so not much but at the end of the day I’m a collector so this super rare was enough for me.

Overall Verdict

For my overall verdict, I’d 100% recommend this expansion set, I’d even go as far and say pick up a hand full of boxes if you can, you get the value and more in this single box, the cards in the box fill out decks and binders and the packs are purely extra value and can be really decent for all points above.
