I Was Expecting More From The Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Next-Generation Upgrade…

Today, the next-generation upgrade for EA and Respawn’s Fallen Order released, with next to no announcement, press releases, or anything which I do find incredibly weird.

When the announcement first came that a next-gen upgrade was coming, I got a little excited and began making a wishlist of little things they could add to the game. So much so in fact that I actually wrote an article which you can read here.

If you have read that, you’d probably know that realistically, I didn’t ask for much. At least I think I never. A lot of those were genuinely just cosmetic stuff, and I do get that the fast travel would be tough to implement.

But instead, we never got anything additional for the game except some upgraded performance which was to be expected anyway. You can see the details here;

  • Higher Resolution Textures & Assets
  • 4K/HDR Resolution
  • Improved 60 FPS Performance
  • Significantly Faster Loading Times

Whilst the above is great, and I will be playing through the game again I’m just disappointed this is it. I think it’s mainly due to the fact that I absolutely love this game. It’s gone down as one of my all-time favorites without question.

However, we’ve only had added content once which was last year, May 4th, 2020. A lot of great stuff came including New Game+ and added cosmetic items, even the red lightsaber. Since then, we’ve had nothing at all.

I figured well since they’re working on a next-gen edition, they may include some new bonus content but there was nothing, and the entire dropping the upgrade with barely any announcement was strange.

Respawn admitted they had over 20,000,000 plays since the game came out on the 15th November 2019.

This is amazing though, and it’s a feat a lot of games never achieve and it is thoroughly deserved. Respawn did wonders with the entire project, and I’m super excited for the announced sequel which is currently in the works.

It is also a good move that the ability to transfer saves is good, it means I get a number of trophies immediately for nothing.

You could comment and say, “content may come soon” and whilst that’s 100% true, I just can’t see it. I just think if they were going to add anything they would have done it upon the release of the PS5/Xbox Series X version.

I do hope I can come back to this article soon and just admit that I was wrong to even consider writing this, but I’ve been doing this for over 3 years and I’ve only ever done that once.

Despite all of this, I love the game. I will probably play through multiple times until the sequel is out because it’s just that good.
