Star Wars: The Bad Batch “Battle Scars” Review

Season 1 Episode 7 “As they traverse a decommisioned medical facility, the Batch encounter an unexpected threat.”

What I Liked?

1. The episode immediately starts off with the Squad getting chased through space after doing a small job for Cid, this means there has been a small-time jump, potentially like a few days or maybe a week at most since the last episode, I liked this scene because we truly haven’t seen a space battle with the Squad yet.

2. The Squad returns to the bar where Cid is located, Hunter notices a hooded figure in the bar, when the Squad is dealing with Cid, they hear blaster fire, and the bar cleared with the hooded figure remaining, this turns out to be the mystery character from last weeks episode, who in turn is Rex. Tech informs Rex that the Empire has him on record as “killed in action”, when Rex finds out the Squad hasn’t removed the chips, he gets ready to engage in a battle.

3. The Squad decides to go meet Rex on Bracca, the world in the opening of Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, there Rex takes the Squad to a Venator-class Star Destroyer to use the medbay facility to remove the chips as Ahsoka did with Rex back in season 7 of The Clone Wars. While making their way through the Star Destroyer, Wrecker gets attacked by one of the same species Luke gets attacked by in Episode 4.

4. This next point comes after the Squad manages to remove the chips, Wrecker feeling bad for what he tried to do with Omega when the chip took control, he speaks with her about him trying to hold back which you could see throughout the scene where he was chasing her, this scene shows me how much I care about this character of Omega.

What I Disliked?

Absolutely nothing to report for this section.

Favorite Moment

When Wrecker was close to getting his chip removed, you could see the chip slowly take control of him, Tech goes to inject something into his head but he grabs him by the through and throws him against the wall, Wrecker then turns into a Hulk-like brute and goes after each member of the Squad, leading to a small fight between him and Hunter, Wrecker then chases Omega but Rex manages to subdue Wrecker just before he shoots Omega.

Standout Character

While I absolutely loved seeing Rex, I have to give the standout to Wrecker, he was fantastic with this brute-forced side to him.

The Verdict

In my opinion, this was the second-best episode of the series thus far. This episode was fantastic from start to finish, they brought in Rex, didn’t truly take the focus from the Squad, and put it on Rex, we saw him tease Ahsoka or Gregor or Wolffe. This episode teased the Squad going back for Crosshair.
